02 P5 Transmission Stuck in 3rd

Out of the blue during a normal shift: 02 P5 transmission got stuck in 3rd. The shifter moves and sounds like the tranny is shifting OK. Shifting into 3rd and 4th its still in 3rd. Even in the neutral position it will go as if in 3rd. 1st or 2nd letting out the clutch the motor will strain like the emergency brake is on and the car won't move.

Did you watch the linkage where it enters the tranny? If it's moving OK there, probably a busted shift fork internally.

Sounds like a busted linkage. Look underneath...hopefully it's that an not a fork.
