That doesn't surprise me at all. Mazda USA is just a sales arm. When I was working for BMWNA, it was like pulling teeth sometimes to get technical info from BMWAG. Most times, we just had to figure it out ourselves.

if i remember correctly, the manual recommends rotation every 5K miles or so. that's what i will be doing.

by the way, when i changed it at 1200 miles, the oil was black as night. just give the engine some time to break in on the regular oil and then switch to synthetic after at least 1000 miles.

yes, the spin on filter is what you need. there are no special tricks and the filter is very easy to get to. i changed my oil first at 1200 miles and switched to synthetic, and then at 3000 miles. ill do every 3000 from now on.

my drivers seat was doing the exact same thing on my 2010 speed3. i just had it addressed at the dealer on monday. they said this is the second one they have seen with the issue. they said the vertical adjuster was not properly lubricated from the factory. the squeak is now gone.
