    Difficulty with MT 1 - 2 shift

Hey Pbo - Sorry for your problem, but at least I'm not imagining it. Yes, my dealer and I will have a little chat. I'll bet we'll be told "they all do that." BTW, when my windows are partway down the doors make a clatter when shut. Nice solid "thunk" when the windows are up. My brother...

    2010 Speed3 Tricky Clutch

Back in the day a few makers - I think Studebaker was one (anybody else remember them) - had a "hill holder." If you pressed the clutch pedal ALL the way to the floor, you engaged the brake! Wowzer! Then you could have your foot on the gas, ready to go. I think Subaru revived it a few years...

    Difficulty with MT 1 - 2 shift

I have a 2010 Hatch with the 2.5 and 6sp MT. Shifting from 1 to 2 is difficult, especially at 5K rpm or over. Unless I make a VERY definate pause at the neutral gate I "beat" the synchronizers, with the sound called "grinding the gears." Of course its the synchos that are suffering. Going up...

    Garmin/Tom Tom Setup

TomTom One We have the TomTom and have been pleased. We've had no trouble with the suction cup falling off the windshield, I think the secret is to use ... SPIT! Make sure the glass is reasonably clean, and lick it! Really! My wife found that the hang on the window doohickies fell off...

    ScanGauge and DashHawk?

Hmm. I never heard back from SanGauge, or from Mazda's person. Do keep us posted on your adventures with the ScanGauge.

    ScanGauge and DashHawk?

Kewl. Thanks for the info. I think I'll spring for the ScanGauge. Maybe Mazda will deign to reply with some real info. LOL!

    ScanGauge and DashHawk?

Hey DailyDriver - You have a point about life being short, but I keep cars a looong time - my '96 Contour SE to 180K, and the '99 Pontiac - now my wife's ride - is now at 165K. Even if the ScanGauge doesn't furnish oil pressure I think it'd be useful. I agree, I think Mazda is weaseling out...

Headlights dim when window switches are used

You might check your ground strap. I once had a second-hand '80 Dodge Colt; whenever I turned on the A/C the temp gauge went to hot within 10 seconds. The headlight brightness varied depending on whether or not I was accelerating. It turned out that there was no ground strap, adding one -...

    ScanGauge and DashHawk?

Oil Pressure? Same song, second verse! Hey Wingzero and Coyfish - Thanks for the info. I've sent this to Mazda, after realizing that an oil pressure sensor might be no more than a switch: "I am thinking of buying either a ScanGauge or a DashHawk which will connect with the diagnositic plug...

    ScanGauge and DashHawk?

Oil Pressure? So, I know DashHawk mentions oil pressure for some vehicles - do you know whether it will display it for the 2010 3? Their website doesn't make asking a question easy. Thanks!

    ScanGauge and DashHawk?

Good deal! I also emailed ScanGauge to see what they say. You can get oil pressure from ScanGauge?

    ScanGauge and DashHawk?

I've just become a Mazda owner - 3s, 5 door, Bose/sunroof 6 spd - and the lack of coolant temperature, oil pressure and amp/volt meters is distressing. I like to know when the temp is "off the peg" so I can get on it. ScanGauge and DashHawk look like possible solutions, without the "agony" of...

    Official 2010+ Mazda3 Rollcall

Road trip notes We got back from SC yesterday evening. About 500 miles round trip. On the return leg we noted average speed 70 mph, 27.8 mpg. This was mainly interstate, with no chance to tackle the twisties without going far out of the way. At 78 mph on what as far as I could tell was a...

    Official 2010+ Mazda3 Rollcall

Picked up mine Saturday. Mazda3 sport 5 door. Velocity Red, 6 speed, Bose/sunroof. I'll post some pics after our weekend road trip to South Carolina. Gotta see how trip mileage looks.

    2010 MS3 horn??? Beep?

Hey Folks - I picked up my 2010 Mazda3s 5 door (velocity red, 6 speed, Bose/sunroof) Saturday. I'm a happy camper, except for that horn! Really anemic! Back in the day I added little Italian air horns, 2 trumpets, about 5 and 8 inches, a little compressor about the size of a soup can, to a...

    2010 Mazda 3s 6-speed 1st gear chatter

1st gear chatter If it is the anti-chatter springs and one or more should break use of the clutch becomes problematic if not impossible; the broken parts can and probably will wedge between the disc and the pressure plate and/or flywheel. Bingo, jammed clutch!! I had a '96 Contour SE (V6...

    Rust buckets??

Rust in Georgia?? Thanks, folks! I'd seen some posts in another forum about rust problems from all over the country. That's why I thought I'd mention that I live in Georgia where snow and salt are rare. I drove my 96 Ford Contour SE to 180K miles with the only rust where a tossed rock cut...

    2010 Mazda 3s 6-speed 1st gear chatter

I forgot the rubber boot often used to pass the release bearing fork through the bell housing. These are often pleated like a rubber floor shift boot. I can't imagine this boot affecting clutch engagement.

    2010 Mazda 3s 6-speed 1st gear chatter

What rubber components are there in a clutch? I've done a few clutch jobs on various cars and the only rubber parts I ever saw were rear main bearing seal and the front seal on the trans. Plus the hydraulic hose for a slave cylinder. With these several complaints, could this be the...
