2015 Mazda5 Minivan Drops Manual Transmission For the Final Model Year

I must've missed this, are they really discontinuing? I've been wondering why the SKYACTIV kit hasn't found it's way into the 5, so is this confirmed, no more Mazda5 after model year 2015? There's really nothing else that seats 6 in a pinch and gets this kind of MPG. Unless they add a 3rd row...

Failed KYB Exel/GR shock after only 4K miles?

yes it was leaking quite a bit, just a mess when I pulled it off. Once off, when I pushed the shaft down it wouldn't pop up by itself. Drove like crap too- any turns over bumps would cause the rear to sway on that side.

Failed KYB Exel/GR shock after only 4K miles?

I had to get a warranty replacement of a KYB shock after only 4,000 miles on it. Guy at the retailer said they never see KYBs go back. Is this a fluke or could there be something specific to our '08 M5 suspension that would cause such early failure? 15K to 20K I get, I know the rear sucks, but...

    06 Mazda5 suspension upgrade opinion

Dumb question here but isn't a shock's function more as a spring "damper", rather than actual shock absorption? So a stiffer spring, i.e. one with a higher spring rate, could potentially be harder on a shock, or maybe I'm completely mistaken.

Rotor recommendations (not performance but OEM-like)

Looking for some reasonable, decent quality replacement front rotors for OEM on '08 Mazda5. Will be paired with new, OEM pads, so not looking for fancy slotted/drilled/performance rotors, just something of decent quality but cheaper than OEM, perhaps available on Amazon. Will not be...

    Mazda5 vs CX5 MPG question

The stats I looked at showed the CX-5 with AWD at 3,560, which is heavier than the Mazda5. The CX-5 without AWD is 3,290 or around there. The Mazda5 is 3417-50 for 2015 but lower in earlier years ('06-'11). RE: aerodynamics, I don't think the mpg tests factor in cd, I dunno, aren't they on a...

    Mazda5 vs CX5 MPG question

Apologies if this has been discussed before, did a quick search but didn't find. I've always been a bit confused why the Mazda5 doesn't get quite as good gas mileage as some mini-utes, despite not having AWD but same size, and sometimes lighter weight. But since these were other manufacturers...

Upgrade on 2006 rear suspension to 2012

So know this thread is 2 mos old but have a question on '06 vs '12 rear suspension- Sounds like the '12 RSB is same diameter but different design (squared off at bushings?). What about the '12 RSB end links? Are those any different? Upgraded/beefier? I have a stock '08 on its 3rd set of...

    Mazda5 real-world Mileage numbers

I've found the fueleconomy.gov site to be pretty good and has a ton of real-world estimates. I've actually logged almost every fill-up on there for our Mazda5, it's been great to see the graph of the gas mileage over time. We average around 21mpg w/ the bulk being stop/go city driving, some...

Mazda 5 GT Poor Fuel Economy Help!

I would just sign up over at www.fueleconomy.gov and use it regularly. looking at my records over there I see I have never put in more than 14 gallons on a fillup and that's with the light on for a couple days and me worrying I'd run outta gas. My worst mileage has been around 16 or 17mpg...

Wimpy M5 Horn - Any Solutions?

where is the horn located? looks pretty tight inside, sounds like its buried on the drivers side, but usually they're located in front of the radiator, though I don't see it.

    16" Replacement Wheel Specs?

doesn't the 3 have smaller brakes (at least in back)? I guess maybe its not enough to make a difference in wheel offsets.

    Need Winter Tire Recommendation

For straightline you'd probably be ok, but in turns? I'm guessing some substantial oversteer in poor traction conditions with the lower traction rear whipping around. Could be a lot of fun though (in a snowy parking lot for example). Or downright dangerous.

    Need Winter Tire Recommendation

Looks like either would work. Pros of the 195/60 over the 205 would be possibly better snow traction (smaller contact patch) and maybe (very slightly) better gas mileage due to gearing (slight increase in diameter), though the snow compound's increased rolling resistance probably counteracts...
