    3rd P0441 Code in 10 months

Another P0441 victim One more P0441 story and a couple of questions: '07 MS3, 47k. No mods other than an MSCAI. Driving to work yesterday morning and my CEL came on for the first time in the life of the car. Just cruising on a surface street in light traffic. Engine never missed a beat...

    225/40 or 225/45? Difference?

Interesting... I have the same tires and mine will occasionally rub when the car is loaded with people and turning hard (curving freeway on-ramps at high speed). Are you running stock rims? Slight differences between cars may be enough... -Carl

    Car starts by itself

Same thing happened once on my '95 Grand Am with an aftermarket remote-start system (installed by a PO). I was actually walking past it in my yard when it started on its own; keys were on the kitchen table. Ripped it out the next day and threw it in the trash...

225/40-18 vs. 225/45-18 tires on stock wheels with stock suspension

I have some 225/45 Bridgestone RE-01R's on stock rims (stock suspension), and I too have noticed occasional slight rubbing in the back during sweeping turns at high speeds. Most often when other people are in the car. I also researched a bunch to make sure 225/45's wouldn't rub...guess nobody...

    False Horsepower Rating

...HP is NOT torque/time. If that were true, the longer your engine held a give torque, the less HP it would make....(screwy) Power = torque*rotational speed. To use familiar units, Horsepower = torque* RPM/5252, when you measure torque in ft-lbs and RPM is rotations per minute (as opposed to...

BIG sale on Bridgestone RE-01R @ TireRack!! Closeout Pricing...

Gotta give them a call; they only sell what is in currently in stock on the website. On the phone you can pre-order sizes they will be getting more of for the same [super cheap] price. You can still get 225/45's which fit the stock wheels if you just pick up the phone; I did just an hour ago...

BIG sale on Bridgestone RE-01R @ TireRack!! Closeout Pricing...

Just pre-ordered a set of 225/45's for $78 each as well! $398 shipped to SoCal from Indiana...they said they were sold out of pre-orders at the NV warehouse. Still an awesome deal!! Good timing too. I'm at 33,000 miles with my original RE050A's (about 1/32" left before wear bars) and was...

    Geico

You should also check out Esurance. When shopping for insurance when I got my Speed3, they were nearly 1/2 the price of everyone else, including Geico. They didn't have the Speed3 as an option on their website, so I called to see what the deal was. Turns out they treat the '07 Speed3 as an...

What shares the garage with your Speed3?

With a couple of car-crazy roommates (one working as an engine builder on a Nitro Funny Car team), my Speed 3 isn't the sportiest car in the garage. Next to it is an '02 Corvette Z06 and an '03 Mustang Cobra SVT. My car is the black sliver you see in the corner of the pic. The Cobra only has...

Looking for intake temperature data (after turbo) on MS3

Answered your PM asking the same question. For anyone else who's interested; the same equation can be used, just use your new starting temperature and pressure ratio. Also, this compression does not take into account fuel being added in the cylinder, which will probably cool the charge somewhat.

Looking for intake temperature data (after turbo) on MS3

Yep, as long as you know the temperature of the pre-compressed air, you can have any starting pressure you want. -Carl

Looking for intake temperature data (after turbo) on MS3

I haven't seen any actual MS3 data, but a little thermodynamics can help give a pretty good idea of the temperature. Assuming air as an idea gas and that the compression does not add any heat (adiabatic compression): T_final = T_initial * (P_final/P_initial)^0.2857 Where P is absolute...

    Real MPG vs Trip computer

I've now got about 10,700 miles on my MS3, and have experience driving it both purely highway (Boston to Wisconsin, then Wisconsin to LA) and mostly city (LA). I had seen other posts like this thread mentioning the optimistic trip computer MPG, so I have paid attention. Here's what I've...

Any body change atf tranny filter yet?

Try posting this question in the regular Mazda 3 forums...this is the Speed 3 forums, and they only come with a manual tranny. I hope nobody is putting ATF fluid in their MS3 gearbox!

    Miles on your MS3???

Got mine early June and have just over 9,500 miles on it so far. That's what I get for buying it in Boston right when I graduated college, then taking a job in CA and driving it across the country. Still loving every mile! (drive) (Although I'm not as bad as my roommate who bought a new...

    Mazda3 Clunk (in the Trunk)

Just saw this thread and read through the longer thread about it since I've noticed the clunking as well. I just got back from checking mine out, and sure enough, I could back the nut off with my fingers! I tightened it and will be having my dealer check it out at my next oil change (which...

    MS3 Age & Occupation Thread

Hey guys, I've been lurking on here reading everything for the past 3 months or so and just finally registered. I'm 22, just finished college and am now working as an engineer for Boeing in Irvine, CA. Purchased a black Speed3 Sport in June, and currently have 9,000 miles on it (my first new...
