+1 Truth. I've got an old Soundstream D100II powering my tweeters, and it's done a great job. Small amp, great quality, really clean sound.

An older used Orion 600.4(4 channel amp) could be had for a little over $100 or so. Or you could probably find a used Arc Audio FD4150, another 4 channel. I had that amp for a few months, and it powered a set mids and tweets nicely for me. The used Arc would be closer to $200, most likely.

Anyone local that's good at working on Protege 5's that would be willing to do some work for me? Please reply or PM if you can. Thanks. Here's a little background info on my issue. It might possible be the O2 sensor, or the cat. converter now...

Yeah, I'd probably just leave the stock tweets disconnected. I don't know for sure, but most stock tweeters probably can only handle 10-15w or so a piece.

That weird sound went away after a few days on its own, but now the engine light is on again. The dealership told me when I got the coils replaced that there was a 50/50 shot that the cat. converter might need to replaced down the road, as a result of the coils going bad. The service manager...

Yeah, it's the auto/tiptronic tranny. Sorry about yours pooping the bed, that sux. Hopefully they rebuilt it correctly for you.

Yeah, I figured. Is there a "need" for a flush, vs. just draining it and refilling it?

I recently went to the dealer to get some work done on my P5, and one of the things they recommended I get done was a transmission flush($180). I ended up not doing it then, because back when the car had 48k miles on it, I got the transmission rebuilt, which of course meant new fluid at the time...

That's what I was thinking, but it's not a belt squeaking sound, more like a crappy turbocharger charging up kind of sound. lol I'll give them a call.

Thanks for the responses, everyone. I really appreciate them. I ended up taking it to one of the local Mazda dealers, and within 2 hours, they diagnosed exactly what was wrong. 2 coils were bad. I also had engine mount #3 that was cracked, and my belts needed replacing(and yes, I DID ask them...

Sorry it took so long to reply..... I actually ended up not going with the Dyns. I found a set of brand new JBL 660GTI 6.5" mids a couple of months ago, and I've been thoroughly enjoying them ever since. They are officially my favorite 6.5" mid up to this point.

The old ones are still in the spots where they go. A while back, I was trying out different tweeters and I ended up having to put a screw through the little screens on the sail panels to attach a tweeter there for a while. After doing that a few times, the the screens on both are pretty trashed...

Either would be great. I've got my tweeters flush mounted in my A pillars, so these replacement panels are just for looks.
