Official 'Smoking Turbo' response from Mazda

**update** Took it the dealer recently and I brought up the PCV fix. I was told it is not ready yet, delayed again, but they should see something by the end of the year. (notcool) Looking through these posts, that seems to be a recurring story. The dealer keeps telling people "Mazda is...

    Cobb accessport, safer? more dangerous?

update Went to the dealer for service and, believe it or not, the problem described above was caused by my CAI filter being so clogged up that it was messing with the MAF. Problem has gone away. Also, the PCV issue HAS NOT been resolved by MazdaNA. I was told that they are still working on...

Official 'Smoking Turbo' response from Mazda

2006 MS6 with 20,000 miles on it, daily driver owned since new, approx 17 miles on odometer when bought. My only mod is a MSCAI. The turbo smoking issue started for me at 10,000 miles. When I approached the dealership about it they could not replicate the problem. I even tried to replicate...

    Cobb accessport, safer? more dangerous?

Thanks everyone for the feedback and no, I don't have an air straightener for the MSCAI. I have had a lot of issues with my car over the past 3 years but I have mostly chaulked it up to me being a little too anal when it comes to my car. For instance, at around 8000 miles I heard a whining...

    Cobb accessport, safer? more dangerous?

I have a 2006 spd6 with only the MSCAI, everything else is bone stock. I have put 93 octane in it for the life of the car and have had three reflashes done from the factory. My biggest issue is what you were describing in the last post. About 90% of the time when I am accelerating hard as...

Rearend humming at 40-45 miles per hour

update Okay, I had the diff replaced on Monday with no headaches or problems. They actually finished it in about 4 hours, believe it or not, and they gave me a loaner car to boot. (If you live in western CT, I highly recommend Colonial Mazda in Danbury (hope I don't get in trouble)) The...

Rearend humming at 40-45 miles per hour

Mine has had the sound ever since I bought it also but it has gradually gotten worse. I also noticed when I am on the highway and cruising around 80 MPH, there is a slight grinding noise coming from the diff. Whenever I have a passenger in the car they don't notice it but you know how that...

Rearend humming at 40-45 miles per hour

I thought I had seen a post on this but I couldn't locate in the search options, so I'm sorry if I am double posting. Anyway, I had my car in for service last week and I mentioned to the service manager that there is a humming (whining) noise coming from the rear differential but only at 40-45...

Mazdaspeed6 Intermittent Lack of Power Concern Fix Available

reflash update opinion I purchased my 2006 speed 6 in November of 2006 and have been driving it this long without the reflash. I just had the reflash done last week and here are my opinions: #1 - there is NO power loss, in fact the car seems to have much MORE power then it did prior to the...

loud *POP* when cold and in reverse

Agree 100% with Whooosh here. It has happened to me a couple of times and like osirislink, I have a little over 6,000 miles on mine. No concerns...

Mazdaspeed CAI Vs Stock Air Box? question

I have had the Mazdaspeed CAI installed by the dealership since January of this year with zero CEL's or problems. Correction, I do get fuel cut every once in a blue moon when I am driving it like I stole it but not consistently.

    Cutting Out

I have owned my MPS6 for a year now and am having this issue as well. The only mod I have is the Mazdaspeed CAI and I have not had the re-flash done. The best way for me to describe it is when I am accelerating HARD it studders when I shift from 2nd to 3rd and 3rd to 4th. When I say studder...

    Engine mounts

I'd like to get this mod done also but isn't there different "grades" or "stiffness" that you can choose? If so, which # would you guys/gals recommend? I did look up the mounts but I don't know which # to go with. Are there trade-offs going with one over the other? Sorry for the questions...

MS6 - rear tires wearing quicker than front

Keep in mind the speed6 has a pretty significant negative camber for the rear tires. Inside edges will wear a lot faster if not rotated religiously.

Is it bad to drive with the DSC off all the time?

WOW!!!! I have no idea how anyone drove a car safely without DSC or antilock brakes or airbags just a mere 10 to 15 years ago. How is anyone alive today??? (sarcasm, if anyone missed it!)

What cars do MS6's compete in class?

Yes, they were stock clutches and lasted 80,000 miles plus. I get what your saying about not "dumping the clutch" and it does put unwarranted wear on them but it was just an observation I had skimming these forums. I remember my IROC when I was 19, I would redline it and then completely dump...

What cars do MS6's compete in class?

Good post Koenig but I have to wonder if the drivetrain in these MS6's can handle much more power?? I see a bunch of posts, just in this forum, about people screwing their tranny's up and those cars aren't even pushing 300 HP to the wheels!! I used to light up my rear tires with my previous...
