alot of dealers have non-affiliated contractors on site who will give you a "gold package" upgrade for a couple of hundred bucks. There is a machine/chemical out there that they apply to chrome to give it the gold look. That could be what you saw
To pile on, hitting the curb could have thrown off the balance of the wheel or screwed your struts. It more than likely DID screw your alignment. You should have probably gone and had it checked out for full replacement and tried to make an insurance claim. fixing it bit by bit could get very...
come on ya'll, give the guy a break. I'm sure the roof scoop is fully functional- providing downforce and custom ducting cools the stock (painted "yellow") calipers.
No, I'm planning on staying in. So far, I love the AF. If they give me the option, I'll cross train before getting out. Possibly even take advantage of the Blue to Green program (AF=Army) if they won't let me cross train.

Thanks!
Guy's thanks for the welcome and the kind words. I can't wait to dig into the board and learn more about the Mazda.
Right now I'm only planning mild(vanilla) upgrades:
18" ADR Wheels (actually off of my old car: Eclipse )
New 215-35-18 tires
1.5 Drop
AEM Short Ram
HKS Axle Back Exhaust...
I just wanted to drop in and say hi. I will be buying a Protege 5 soon (2 weeks or less) and its going to be my first Mazda. I've been working on my cars for 10 years now and can't wait to get wrenching on the P5. I've already read most of the Newbie questions posts, so I'll save you that...
