    US Diesel's big splash introduction

Subscribed, and/but waiting for news. As a TDI owner, I've never thought it was about a 0-60, somewhat the MPG, but more the improved daily drivability from the very wide torque (at high altitude).

Where did you get this quote? I've looked, and maybe missed it given the many post. I'm looking for a USA model CX-5 D, and if it has Apple Carplay and/or ventilated seats. (Pickey, I know.) I just like the feel of the diesel torque curve in my current diesel.

We've been looking into the 2019 RDX too. Given its bigger size, we'll appreciate the extra rear legroom and cargo capacity. Here is a RDX technical video (April 14): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V6vg-0daHv8 It'll likely cost 30% more than CX5 GT D, but if it delivers near what the hype...

I hope it goes well. The 1) 48V powered supercharger, 2) small fast spin-up turbo and 3) large high output turbo work well in the SQ7. A trifecta. (OK, add in that SQ7 has a diesel too.)

Make that ++2. Cradle to grave needs to be factored; and beyond the sunshine, wind, hydro, nuclear => to electricity part. What is that round thing powering Iron Man? Add one of those.

Varying definitions. I agree that the 48V bolt-on belt driven starter/alternator/motor assist won't be exciting, although they should help mileage, and reduce pollution (better start-stop at traffic lights, etc.). They'll have a role to play. I further agree that these are interim systems...

Which ones with 48 V are you referring to that "have hit the market"? The Acura NSX and MDX Sport Hybrid using three smallish motors have gotten great reviews. Test drive the MDX Sport Hybrid, a big 3.0 non-turbo that with the three motors drives as if it were way smaller and lighter. The...

The Mild HEV could be interesting. It likely refers to a 48V motor system that reportedly can improve driving dynamics; giving instant torque and compensating for/eliminating the feeling of turbo lag. Reportedly coming to a number of late 2019 cars, including Kia Sportage...

Looks fantastic! A bit of Jaguar F Pace in the rear, which is also great looking. And it being a bit longer than the CX-5 would help. Heres a Youtube of it. https://goo.gl/Pzy8Dw I've not up on the rumors. Is this definitely not coming to N.A.?

Unfortunately the same management/manger, just more senior now (in title and, uh, experience). The press release sounds overly contrived. Still, if its a recognition that they need to make changes and are empowering him to do so, great.

I would like to have the opportunity to. Maybe if the Sorento diesel is successful, they'll also offer the Sportage here. Are the Kia diesels there using DEF fluid? The Sorento size-wise is in between CX-5 and CX9; a bit smaller than a CX-8 which I got excited about because its within the...

    US Diesel's big splash introduction

At this rate Kia's diesel Sorento mid-size SUV may arrive first. Infiniti will have its 2019 QX50 out before long. Acura just revealed their 2019 RDX with SH-AWD (torque vectoring), a turbo 4 cylinder promising good low end torque, Apple CarPlay, ventilated 16 way adjustable seats, large...

The interior of the CX-5 and Alfa Romeo Stelvio are very similar. The 2019 QX50 interior look busy. The exterior of the 2019 QX50 looks like a mash up blend of CX-5, Alfa Romeo Stelvio, and their current QX60.

Sorry if I offended. For me, the CX-9 is too long, certainly for the delivered interior space. (Look at the new VW Atlas, interior/exterior.) Just my opinion, based on my wanting something a bit bigger than the CX-5, with turbo. The announced 2019 Infiniti QX50 promises more roominess than the...

Yes, my fear too is the CVT transmission. If this QX50 delivers significantly on its "diesel like" torque promise, and mates up OK with the CVT, I'm interested. If the 2019 Kia Sorento turbo diesel ships in March/April, that may be my easy solution (tweaner size, value, driving dynamics...

... ..."Have you looked at the sales numbers of your CX-9? - and asked yourself why they're so low? Why don't you bring the CX-8 to North America with a turbo diesel and/or turbo gas; with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto?" I'm hoping for a Detroit Auto Show reveal of the CX-5 diesel sale date, but...

Just back from dealership - and below are some interesting findings!

Bring the CX-8 AWD diesel and gas turbos to North America.

2019 RDX is to be a major re-design. Hopefully adding (back) in the SH-AWD torque vectoring handling and performance, and my wish the 3 electric motors from the NSX, RDX and MDX Sport Hybrid. There are multiple dealers in the area, and they seem good. The Kia Sorento isn't too big (length...

    US Diesel's big splash introduction

I'm actively in the hunt for alternatives, more for the diesel torque driving dynamics rather than mileage benefit: 2019 Infiniti QX50 variable compression engine promising better torque (Announced. March?). 2019 Kia Sorento 2.0 turbo diesel (Announced. Spring?) 2019 Acura RDX Sport Hybrid...
