i just pulled my aem out for the winter -- it's time for long weekend drives up north for snowboarding. i recently went on a 400 mile (round) trip from RI to Killington, VT and only had 21 mpg on the way up and 23 on the way back (downhill). before i had my intake in, i would get 35+!

you could try to soak em in wd-40, that may do the trick

i test drove both and preferred the p5. one thing i disliked about the se-r initially was looks, both inside and out. the p5 was also more practical for me cos of all the space in the back for sports related gear (i do mountain biking, snowboarding, skateboarding, tennis, etc).

i've got an auto as well and notice a bit of that initial surge happening as well, but not to the degree that you're describing. maybe you need to learn to be a bit more nimble with your gas pedal? have you tried turning the overdrive off when you're in traffic? that kinda makes it smoother.

primarily under "selective color" via the image/adjustments menu. you can also skew hue/saturation under the same menu.

since its coming from the web, the resolution on this file is only 72 dpi.. it might get pixelated if you print it out. should be ok as long as you aren't blowing it up at all.

yeah, unfortuneately it did a little bit. i tried to re-fit it and could not find any possible way that it would fit into a non-compromising position. i even checked with aem before i ordered the part and since i have an auto tranny they said i needed the short ram for the 1.8L protege...
