    Loose/clunky suspension

Borrowed a set of spring compressors and got the front struts done. The original springs looked to be in great shape but the struts were completely gone - the right side had no resistance what-so-ever and the left wasn't much better (neither would extend by themselves). Getting the new stuts...

    Loose/clunky suspension

Well, I got some stuff:: Did the rear shocks, sway bar bushings and end links yerterday. Both old shocks were done - both sides had hardly any resistance, left side would take 10~15 minutes to extend after being pushed in, right side would just stay where you put it. The old sway bar...

I just used the old hardware, except I had to replace the bolt for the rear mount because I switched to the Ford aluminium one.

    Loose/clunky suspension

Well, I had a chance to look at the rear... Swaybar bushings seem a little loose, end links seem OK. Trailing arm bushings look like they are no longer pressed all the way in (both sides similar)? Is this typical/normal? Hard to find images online. Definitely some movement when I pry on...

    Loose/clunky suspension

Thanks for the replies all, There is undampened wheel hop after going over bumps which is why I'm looking at struts and shocks. Rear passenger is definitely blown, and I think rear driver as well. Going over bumps while taking slight turns at highway speeds results in the back end hopping...

    Loose/clunky suspension

Don't drive my wife's 5 very often but used it the other day and noticed that the suspension no longer feels like one integrated system - more like an assortment of parts loosely holding everything together. Steering wanders, things clunk, and wheels hop over bumps. 2013 w/~190k kms (120k...

    2013 Mazda5 Motor Mounts

Well, hard to say what the results are since much of it is subjective (plus after putting the money and time into it you really want it to be better). Both my wife and I agree the shifting is better (but not perfect). Neither of us have driven in real stop-and-go traffic yet. Engine &...

    2013 Mazda5 Motor Mounts

Got the mounts swapped out yesterday. Went well, took about 2-1/2 hours in total. The bolt underneath was not too bad - maybe the penetrating oil I sprayed on the day before helped. The toughest bolt for me was the one on the transmission mount (the 80 ft.lb one) but it came out fine with a...

    2013 Mazda5 Motor Mounts

Thanks for the heads up. I won't have time to work on it until the weekend but if it is not raining this evening I will drive it up on the ramps and get some penetrating oil on that bolt. I will have a look at moving the computer, but not too concerned with it overheating up here in the Great...

    2013 Mazda5 Motor Mounts

My wife noticed that the shifting on her automatic 2013 (130k kms) has started getting harsher, particularly in-and-out of gear, and the 1-2 shift. ATF is relatively new, and looks clean. It is OEM. Found more than one thread suggesting to check motor mounts as a possible cause, so I put the...
