    Goodbye P5, Hello CX-9

Wife had a momentary lapse in attention, scratch one 2002.5 P5. No airbag deployment but given the previous hail damage, etc. the $4200 in impact damage did her in. Car took care of my family for nearly 11 years and 240,000 trouble-free miles (still had original clutch, struts, etc.) Thanks...

    Hellahorn vs Sickspeed horns?

Doesn't include the harness (+$17), do you need the harness or will the existing stock wiring work?

    numbers?

Tons here in Nashville. My wife and I kid that they must come here to die. I see anywhere from 2-3 a day, and I have a short commute.

    discount tire, honored their saying!

I've always been extremely satisfied with the after-the-sale service I've received from Discount Tire. Glad that it isn't just me.

Nearly 220K miles.. Changed the oil today and replaced the original post-cat O2 sensor. Noticed a torn upper passenger motor mount, and a tiny bit of a noise from the throwout bearing. Guess I'll have a few projects for her this fall. So, to recap the history (a lesson in durability)...

WTB:2003 P5 Air intake tube between MAF and Intake

vetteguy.. You can pick up a brand new one for $42 or so from one of the vendors listed in the forums. The one on my wife's car developed a tear and I found the replacement. Haven't ordered it yet, but I can verify that brand new it's just over $40.

    Nashville Shops?

Winston- thanks for the help. Autotech looks pretty good, may end up taking both the Mazda and Lexus there for service.

Drove my wife's car yesterday morning to fill it up with gas.. I think I've driven it twice in the last 6 months. Noticed it's rolled past 215,000 miles and still has the pep I remembered..

    Nashville Shops?

Not wanting to go to the stealerships to get new struts and some other work done to the Protege 5. Any suggestions on shops local to Nashville that you would recommend?

    What's your mileage?

Drove the car today (wife usually drives it) and rolled over 213,000 miles. Still on the original clutch and struts. Ready for a new set of tires, and probably struts as well.. Still runs well, probably will go over it with a fine-tooth comb in the spring.

    Window diagram?

Does it move at all? Just finished replacing the passenger side power window regulator on my wife's P5.. Part cost $60, took a couple of hours to R&R.

Protege5 - How many miles have you gone before changing the timing belt?

184,000 miles when finally decided to change ours.. and it looked fine and could have gone a lot longer. Did the tensioner and the water pump at the same time.

184,000 and still rolling.. Decided to bite the bullet and have the timing belt, water pump, and all accessory belts replaced last week. All were the original pieces. Total charge was just under 6 bills. Car was still running strong. CEL just came on, had a scan done, time for O2 sensors...

If I had three days where I could have the car down, I have the ability and tools to do the job. I just don't have the time. I may look around at other shops that I feel would do a good job without me having to take the car back in to have issues resolved after the repair. I mean, 180,000...

182,000 miles today.. Actually gave the wife the Lexus, and took the P5 to work today. Car drove nice, had to replace a low beam headlight bulb on the way home. Car seems to also need front struts. Seemed to have a bit more rebound than I remember.. Still planning the timing belt, water...
