Anyone out there that has installed a new head unit, are there any tricks to it? Any special wiring that should/has to be done? I'm at a loss with mine!

Update: I've hard wired the stereo in, no harness or anything. All the wire colours are correct, and now when I turn the car on, the message on the stereo says "miswiring, check wiring and reset unit". I don't have the Bose system so I shouldn't have to attach the amp wire, it don't know what...
