    CX-5 AWD snow performance

Perhaps our backgrounds are different. I know how to drive, that is not the issue. Coming from a lancer evo, arguably one of the best awd sedans available, to the cx5. The cx5 is not fun and understeers way more than I would like. Mid speed stuff isn't too bad, but any sharp or low speed...

    CX-5 AWD snow performance

I totally agree. The dsc is a total fun killer in the snow. Car always smells quite a bit of brakes after sliding around a bit. As for the under steer...even with fresh snow tires this car under steers horribly in the snow. It's simply sprung way to stiff for those conditions. Corner entry...

Any way to disable completly driving assist?

I'd love to know this too. Every time I try to have fun in the snow my car stinks of hot brakes. Leading me to believe it is working over time and killing the fun (it is!).

Blind Spot Monitoring and trailer towing

My guess would be the trailer. BSM will act up when I have a bike on my rack. Thule T2 upright hitch mount reach. Since the sensors also check behind the car it picks it up.

    winter storm

One issue with the CX5 in low grip (snow/ice) is that the car is sprung/damped relatively stiff. This is great for spring/summer/fall, so-so for winter. What the end effect is the car understeers (front loses grip first) quite a bit, so corner entry must be slow. I've found the AWD to work...

    Will this work offset/weight

That size and offset will work. I just mounted my snows today and they are almost identical. Only thing you need to confirm with figment is the spoke design.

    AWD Improvements?

A quaife is no good for the rear anyway. Ideally you have a clutch type rear and a torsen or gear type front. It's a good blend of performance and drivability. Gear type rear doesnt work that well since the gear type can still act like an open diff in certain conditions. Of course a true off...

CAD $1200 Too much for winter tires + steel rims

Agree with Jeremy..sounds pricey. I got some 17" alloys with hankook ipikes for $900 mounted balanced and shipped from discount tire.

    Engine revving when applying brakes

This car is programmed to do Rev matched downshifts when braking. It simulates what most good drivers would do during heel toe downshifts in a manual trans. I love it, but come from a performance driving background. I could see where some find it weird.

CX-5 Photos - Share your shots with us!

Thanks! They are a decent set of trail wheels. Not as strong as I'd hoped. Already had a shop relace the rear with thicker Wheelsmith spokes (2.0 vs 1.7) and its a bit more solid. Was snapping 1.7s every other ride after 3 mos of use.

awd or snow tires in Toronto???

Rob I couldn't agree more. The driver and tires are the 2 biggest mods you can make to a car. I live in a very hilly area that gets snow, I also want to get to the mountains when it snows. Thus awd is more of a need. Haven't driven this car in snow yet, but I would guess fwd with good snows...

awd or snow tires in Toronto???

FWD with snows is a good combo. The AWD will accelerate better and give much more capability getting up hills, especially in deeper snow and from a dig (starting on the hill). My choice is AWD and snows. So much confidence and capability. That said snows on my MZ6 wagon made a huge difference.
