OEM Mazda Roof Rack Crossbars Fairing

You can likely use Yakima Mighty Mounts to adapt the fairing to the Whispbar shape. They come in two configurations, a horizontal and vertical one, although I don't know which would work better for your application.

Roof Rack options for 2014 Mazda3?

Yakima adapters I believe you can use Yakima Universal Mighty Mounts or regular Mighty Mounts (either in horizontal or vertical configuration) to adapt other accessories to the Whispbar system.

Roof Rack options for 2014 Mazda3?

It may be that the roof rack from http://www.mazdaparts.org/mazda-3-roof-rack-crossbars.html includes the left and right roof molding. I'm making this guess based on the part #: 00008LL20-BHY2509L0-9H0. (00008LL20 is the part # for the roof rack, BHY2509L0 is the part # for the left hand...

Roof Rack options for 2014 Mazda3?

Thanks for info about the OEM Mazda Roof Rack Crossbars (part # 00008LL20.) I was all set to buy the Yakima Control Towers/Cross Bars/Landing Pads for close to $400 until I learned about this. Yes, the Yakima setup is easily removed but the Landing Pads by themselves look kind of clunky and...

Seen any other '14 3's on the road?

I can understand why some might think this car can fly. (Zoom zoom.) Regardless, what a shame. Hope no one was hurt.

    So How's The Road Noise?

There is only appreciable noise when the car is accelerating. At cruising speed it is really quite quiet. And, in general it does a good job of sealing out the outside din. In fact, when I honk the horn it actually sounds kind of muted.

Seen any other '14 3's on the road?

Saw my first one - a red soul hatch stopped at a somewhat busy intersection (Selby and Snelling) in St. Paul. It was all covered in salt and dirt so it wasn't glistening with that new car juju but after all, it's January in Minnesota...

    Cargo Space

With front passenger seat all the way forward and seat back all the way reclined, plus the 40 portion or 60/40 back seat remaining up, you have a diagonal that is 8'+ and fairly flat and maybe about 10" wide. So, you can definitely carry 8' long lumber. Don't know how high your stack would be...

Seen any other '14 3's on the road?

The dearth of '14 3's is indeed a conundrum for us - the early adopters. On one hand we feel like members of an exclusive club, but on the other hand we want to share the love and certainly we do want Mazda to succeed. I am no expert regarding how quickly or slowly a car percolates into the...

Feedback on BSM, Sport vs. Touring, 14 vs. 13?

The 14 is a completely different animal than the 13. And even though I love almost everything about the 14, the lack of rear visibility is my least favorite thing. That said, you'll be hard pressed to find any other new car that has good rear visibility.

2014 Mazda3 Review in The New York Times

Had been waiting for a review from the NYT. And, while not as effusive as they could have been, I'm glad they are on board with the popular consensus.

Feedback on BSM, Sport vs. Touring, 14 vs. 13?

I had intended to buy the Touring. Drove it, checked out the BSM and determined I didn't really need it, nor did I need any of the other extras furnished with the Touring. I liked the feel of the wrapped wheel but I'm not crazy about the red stitching. I ended up buying the Sport and I love...

    How Fast?

I was heading from Colorado down into New Mexico - wide open straight-line roads certainly help. I had mine up to around 116-119 mph. Very solid ride. Crisp, responsive steering. Would do it again in a heartbeat if the opportunity presented itself.
