Do i need to get Mazda trans fluid or is mercon 5 accepted? i read somewhere that the mazda type is preferred for mazda cars?

how is a complete flush performed? I plan on changing the fluid and filter in my mazda 3 soon. How many quarts of what type of fluid is needed? I read somewhere that Mazda uses a proprietary fluid that a lot of the universals arent compatible with.

is it possible that changing the plugs could cause a cel for the MAF sensor running too lean?

as far as gap.. i'd say just under .50 to .55. when i gapped the new ones i tried to get them as close as i could to factory spec at .52-.53ish

i put in LTR5IX-11 plugs, and i can tell the difference. It runs smoother, idles better, and has quicker responsiveness. and i used the wire type gapper and it worked like a charm. thanks mazdadude (2thumbs)

what gapping would you suggest? I have see in some places where users have ran a smaller gap and got better mpg..

I agree the writing on the cap is just there to let you know what goes there so you dont get it confused. The actual specification is inside the manual. If the manual in the car calls for a certain type, then that is what i would get.

the ecu that came with the motor will always have less headaches to start.

It also could be an issue with the ebrake. Is it possible the cable going to that 1 wheel has gotten in a bind or maybe has rusted to where the brake is closed just a little. Then when you go into reverse it makes contact in such a way that it makes that noise?
