That's the game plan! I test drove a gas version of the 6, and everything was nice except the power. Definitely lacked in pep, hopefully the D fixes this.

I have no doubt in its ability to tow, I'm just afraid of what the dealer would do with the warranty if they found out I was towing.

Are you talking about the CX-5 or the 6? My towing worries are only with warranty issues since the 6 in the US is not rated to tow ANY trailer. My TDI only has 90 hp and I tow 1500 pounds regularly.

Manual + ability to tow 2000+ #'s please!

That would be a big downer if the diesel was auto only. I would still consider it, but the Fusion/Maxima/Gas 6 would get some more consideration as well. All I want is diesel/ manual/ leather/soul red....everything else isn't a huge deal and can live without.

Who else is anxiously awaiting any news?
