    FS: 2002.5 Mazda Protege 5

Yup, they're Celica corners. Took me a while to find some that weren't the silly looking "Euro" style. I wanted mine to still be reflective. I had to slightly enlarge the hole in the bumper to make them work. Bump for lower price too.

    side skirt clips

I bought mine from Tonkin Mazda (who used to be a sponsor here... hmm) but they were the same price at OnlineMazdaParts.com who are still a sponsor. I just picked Tonkin because they were physically closer to me. I saved quite a bit ordering through them vs. my local dealer.

    side skirt clips

Unfotunately it is. But they are a bit cheaper through the sponsor Mazda dealers listed on this site. I needed 7 of one clip and 5 of the other and even with shipping added on, both sites were $7 cheaper than the local dealers, and that didn't include tax.

    side skirt clips

Old thread I know, but I broke the side skirt off my car and needed the part numbers. FYI, the 2nd part number is g18k-51-sj3 (not sjc) per my local dealer. Dem puppies are about $3.75 each! (omg)

    Issues with Slipsteams

If the spacers are only a little thicker than the lip on the bearing cap pictured above, there should be plenty of thread left. I'm not a huge fan of spacers, but it's better than running without the bearing caps.

    Issues with Slipsteams

I found this thread by Khaosman and he had the same problem. http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/showthread.php?t=123638511 Someone made a diagram to show what needs to be machined, and it's the same spot on my wheels that conflict. Looks like Khaosman solved the problem with 5.5mm spacers. Wonder...

    Issues with Slipsteams

The Subzeros were the ones that I was aware needed machining, for the same reason, too. So I guess we can add the Slipstreams to the list. Wish I would have known before I bought em.

    Issues with Slipsteams

So I jacked up teh back of the car and spun the wheels by hand. Sure enough, the right rear wheel was wobbling in/out. I pulled the wheels off to check things and install the hubcentric rings I bought, then reinstalled them. Same thing. Then with the back wheels in the air, I set the e-brake...

    Issues with Slipsteams

I think we all understand that. But as long as you have wheels with the proper lug holes, and the proper lug nuts that seat squarely against the wheel, hub rings aren't 100% necessary. The lug studs will do the work to center the wheel sufficiently. Having said that, I'm still going to buy some.

    Issues with Slipsteams

Not 100% true. While it is usually fine to center the wheels by the lug nuts only, using the rings puts the centering force on the center hub instead of on the lug studs. By using the rings (or proper size hub bore wheels), the lug nuts only do one job - keep the wheels on the car. They don't...

    "center" for power steering?

The degree of caster in your suspension alignment is what causes the steering to return to center after turning. Nothing in the rack affects this unless something is binding up internally. With the wheels straight ahead, the fluid coming from the pump bypasses the valves in the rack altogether...

    Issues with Slipsteams

To be honest, I think rings may make the problem worse. But I will get some anyway. I just gotta find somewhere that sells them locally. Discount Tire carries Gorilla brand which is 67.06mm inner diameter. Not the same as 67.1, right?

    Issues with Slipsteams

The reason why the rear caps have a cap is because there is a greased bearing inside that allows the wheel to free-wheel. On the front, the hubs are splined to the CV axles, and not greased, so no need for a cap. I'm surprised you haven't noticed grease coming out of your rear wheels yet...

    Issues with Slipsteams

Wait, you took the bearing caps off yours permanently? I'm not going to do that. The caps are there for a reason. Unless I misunderstood you...

    Issues with Slipsteams

No, I'm not running the hubcentric rings. The company I bought them from didn't have 67.1mm ones in stock. The lug holes are not too big, and the lug nuts are the proper type with proper seat, so I figured I'd be okay. I'm sort of afraid that maybe the wheel isn't sitting square against the...
