    Knocking! Help me?

Check your gas octane rating, stations have different blends some have higher ethanol blends. Some work better with the MS3 turbo than others. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Engine_knocking The knocking might be from a low grade or cheap blend of 91 octane gas. Try a quality station and see if...

Transmission Whine sound when turning the wheel

No, your trans is fine with MT-90. I'd find expert advise on how much friction modifier to add.

Transmission Whine sound when turning the wheel

Let me guess you noticed the LSD noise shortly <100 miles after you did the gear oil replacement. Shifting was fanatic, like butter. Pulling out of parking spaces and making tight low speed turns (wah wah wah LSD noise). I'm not a expert, but yes you caused the noise with MT-90, just like the...

Transmission Whine sound when turning the wheel

Your hearing the LSD, caused by replacing the gear oil. It's a very common complaint after replacing the gear oil that doesn't have the right friction modifier ratio for the MS3 LSD noise free operation. Adding fiction modifier will help. I had the same LSD noise with new synthetic gear oil...

    Strained noise from LSD?

The noise I think he original described was the LSD making the noise, and not grinding gears. Mine didn't grind at all with the wrong 75-90wt gear oil. It was when you turn your wheel hard to one side at low speed. Then you get the low (wah wah wah) sound. It seems more people have this type...

    Strained noise from LSD?

Very likely your hearing your LSD, here's my very recent experience. I got my trans fluid changed at a oil service place. They told me it was "synthetic 75-90wt gear oil". The next day I noticed a noise (wah wah wah) from the right front wheel area when turning to the left/right at low speed...

    CV/Trans/Wheel Problem??

Did some more investigation on the noise from the right side wheel. I discovered that someone cut a hole in the plastic engine under-pan. Then I noticed the whole under-pan was loose, sagging and missing bolts... I brought it back to the oil change franchise and made them replace/repair the...

Feedback after 2 full tanks of 89 in my MS3

I'd filled up with some 91 from Speedway before a road time. I alway use Mobil 93, love the Mobil speed pass (RFID) tag Well that one speedway 91 tank shudder and coughed every hard acceleration. On ramps it felt like fuel cut. Just never did this with Mobil.93 I replaced the empty speedway...

is our clutch meant for downshifting?

Try a better seating position. A click or two forward on the forward/back, a click forward on the seat back forward and re adjust the steer wheel. It will feel way too close at first (elblow almost 90 and knees 45), but try for a 100 miles. Think all forms of racing/nascar position. Driver...

    CV/Trans/Wheel Problem??

I jacked the right side to re torqued the lug nuts, didn't feel any extra play in the wheel. Since it only the the right front, could it be the steer pump? I pretty sure the fluid level is good, I'll recheck. Thanks

    CV/Trans/Wheel Problem??

My 2007 MS has 33k, so it's still fairly new. I'm going back to the franchise I'd got the oil & trans fluid changed. They might have messed up with the wrong type of trans fluid, since they told me it was synthetic 75w90 and the same as stock. I'll have them recheck the power steer fluid, but...

    CV/Trans/Wheel Problem??

When I turn left/right hard 90> at low speed (1-20mph) I hear a low audible whine from only the right front wheel. Nothing at normal corning speeds. It's not a grinding sound, but it almost sounds like a CV joint or bearing/wheel problem, I'm not sure??? Here's the problem I got a synthetic...

    First drive in the snow...

Like many I tired the stocks "summer" tires in the snow, hell I'm from the midwest. I guess they weren't kidding about 3 season tires... Installed my 215/50R-17 Bridgestone Blizzak WS-60 and 17x7.5 Sport Edition CD Silver, from Tirerack. Now diving in the snow is a pleasure, a whole new...

What have you guys paid?! I'm starting to sweat.

When buying a limited production car like the MS3 your not going to get the x,0000 off. So, if you can deal a little something off, you got a good deal! If you pay MSRP when your getting the average MS3 deal. If you pay more than MSRP your getting worked!!! Remember, the best deal is when both...

    Sat Radio

I went for the factory Sirius unit for my MS GT and I'm very happy. I had a Sirius GTR plug and play unit in my Pro 5. If you like to scrolling through the channels and looking at text the factory unit isn't that good, but you have 6 (presets) X 3 (SAT menus) = 18 total presets channels. The...

P5 compared to 3 Hatch handling?

I traded my 2002 Pro 5 for a MS 3. I also had a opportunity to drive a 3 hatch for 1000+ miles. The handling on the Pro 5 was excellent. The balance was good and the easy of driving the car to the limits is tough to replicate. Heel toe braking was some of the best I've tried. The 3 is more...

    Any other Mazdaspeed mods...

Coilovers or springs will "increase performance". Suspension upgrades will help balance out engine mods and hookup the power. Coilovers will allow you to dial in performance and feel. That doesn't have to mean stiff or just a track setup. If you like the corning and balance, suspension is a...

    Shifting MS3 Smoothly

Try a different driving position. You have better pedal control if you sit slightly closer to the pedals. A click forward for the seat and readjust your wheel position. Shorten how far you push clutch for 2nd-6th. It will smooth your shifting at all speeds.
