    30,000 miles on a 2021 CX-9, time for a complete fluid change!

I do engine oil every 5,000 miles with Pennzoil Ultra Platinum and an OEM Mazda filter (2 stripes!) Hitting 30k now, I also did a drain and fill on the rear end, transfer case, and transmission. For the tranny, use Mazda Type FZ for the ATF, took about 4 quarts, and for the correct level I...

    2021 CX-9 Complete Stereo Upgrade

Obviously you have to keep the factory headunit. With today's technology, that's not a problem. We have tools to overcome this limitation. I used my D'Amore Engineering SMD DD-1 and found that the head unit starts putting out distortion at 53 at 1kHz, so I did all of my tuning at 52 on the...

If you can fit Linear Power 8's in the doors, why wouldn't you? >inb4 my Bose My car didn't have Bose, and Linear Power speakers and amplifiers are handmade in D'Lo Mississippi, and are extremely high end car audio. Small family owned company in business since 1969, and everything they turn...

2016~2023 Perfect spot to run wires from inside CX-9 to engine bay

If you're wanting to run some wiring from inside of the car to the engine bay, there is a perfect spot between the main wiring harness and the brake pedal lever and behind the battery. It's a bump out on the firewall that's shaped like a dog bone. There's absolutely nothing on either side to...

Need info on adding aftermarket amp to a 2021 CX-9

What I'm specifically looking for is a T-harness like PAC makes for the older Mazdas, ie the AOEM-MAZ2. I have the standard non-Bose stereo. Has no one come up with an interface harness yet? Can I cut the factory harness? Yeah. Crutchfield gave some good info as to what wire does what. But I...

I just bought my 7th Mazda!

Picked it up last night. 2021 CX-9 with only 23,000 miles. So far the only complaints I have are the radio is a massive PITA to use, and no touch screen? Seriously? The other complaint, why the hell did they make the buttons on the remote so absolutely tiny? I've been driving Mazdas for over...

New Mazda Oil Filter revision? LF10-14-302B vs the old LF05-14-302B

I've been using the LF05-14-302B's forever now. I still have at least a year's worth in backstock. I noticed just today that there's a new part number, LF10-14-302B. Has anyone seen this? Any insights as to the changes? A TSB maybe? I googled, and really haven't found anything.

Off Topic Dealerships need to end

I recently read something in a Mazda group: "I'm a finance guy in the car business and a BIG fan of service contracts" Well of course they are, the back room add ons and financing percentage hold-backs is where they make all of their money. It should be *ILLEGAL* for a car dealership to offer...

Cleaned the intake valves on my 2013 CX-5

115,000 miles, getting a P0300, random misfire. I figured it was crapped up valves, and yes, they were NASTY. Got around to cleaning them today, and this job was E.A.S.Y. It's kind of intimidating because you're pulling the intake manifold off, but it's really a simple job, no lie. I used a...

New valve cover gasket time! 2012 Mazda5

150,000 miles on the 2012, time for new valve cover gaskets. The internal one had failed, coating the spark plugs. I used Fel-Pro part number VS 50639 R-1. Perfect fit. I also changed the o-ring on the cam position sensor while I was there.

What is the purpose of a HUD?

We're not shooting down MiGs with our Mazda, so what's the point? Just something else to jack up the price of the car? I don't get it.

Important Info: Using the iDataLink Maestro RR in Mazdas

iDataLink just came out with a plug and play T-Harness for our Mazdas, part number HRN-HRR-MA1. This will make installing an aftermarket radio completely baboon-proof. However, it's not widely available at all right now, so for the time being, we still have to use the generic harness. But...
