Using thinner sheet metal is only one of many ways to shed weight from a complicated steel body structure. Use of high strength steel and modifying stamping and casting methods are examples of others.

What did you pay for your CX-5?

You don't understand adding 4" to the wheelbase to create a usable back seat? I've owned 2 of these things (2013 and 2023) and that's been my primary complaint with both. It's high time Mazda corrected this mistake!

Question about new 20" wheels on 2026 CX-50

Found the answer; good ol' Google AI says: "New 20-Inch Silver Alloy Wheels: A new 20-inch silver, machine-finished alloy wheel is now available on higher trims (such as the 2.5 S Premium and Turbo models) when selecting the new White Interior Option." I don't know about you guys, but I'm...

Question about new 20" wheels on 2026 CX-50

This morning I was at a Mazda dealer for service and was looking at 2026 CX-50s. I noticed there was a different 20" rim on some of the cars but couldn't determine which trim level(s) it applied to and there was no one around to ask. This is not the wheel currently shown on the web site and...

What have you done to your CX-5 today?

This is a common problem when you let "someone else" do the install. Common solution is to get a piece of door edge molding and install it over the rough cut edge.

Have always been glad I don't have to put up with that kind of crap. It truly makes a car a "consumable" item. There's got to be a better way!

I once had a problem syncing the remote to the opener because I was trying to do it with the car sitting under neath it in the garage. Once I moved it out of the garage, it worked fine. Just a thought.

What have you done to your CX-5 today?

It's Mazda hi-moly oil, developed for them by Idemitsu. Great stuff! Pricey, but it's all I've ever used in three Skyactiv G engines.

What did you pay for your CX-5?

Having owned two CX-5s (2013 and 2023), from my POV the main reason to wait for the redesign is the longer wheelbase which translates into more cargo space and (more importantly) more rear seat legroom. The latter of which has always been an aggravating CX-5 shortcoming.
