I've used the paddle shifters, and the tiptronic gear levers in the normal spot. They're better than nothing, but I really like having a clutch. I'm picky about that.
Yeah, but that's not what I want... I want something that works exactly like the manual I have now UNTIL I shift into drive, at which point I don't have to touch it again until I shift back out of drive.
Someday someone will build a transmission that has a clutch, but the gear shift goes 1-2-3-4-5-R-D, and when you put it in drive then it bypasses the clutch. That's the automatic I'll buy.
My stepdad has one almost identical to the video... even with drive by wire it's nice, and I had no problem with the steering, it was just barely less responsive than the Protege.
^^^ Exactly. The Osrams are not quite as white (although they're whiter than stock) but they are definitely brighter, because there's not tint. They're about the same price and they are legal here.
Osram Silverstars... they're noticeably brighter than the Sylvanias (I've used both) for about the same price, and mine have lasted over a year now.

That would probably work but you'd be driving without a speedometer, tach, fuel gauge, temp gauge, or any warning lights, and on the Protege at least the interior lights (overheads) won't turn on if it's unplugged.
