I had a thread open for it some time ago but I've just gotten used to pressing the fog light button and will probably stick with that, since the wiring to connect to the high beams seemed a little complicated on initial inspection.
Interesting. Is your P5 automatic or manual? Are these prices including labor at a shop? The engine/trans oil change at 135950 is notable to me as being quite expensive at least compared to doing it yourself.

I don't have a definitive answer but if I had to guess, I'd say it's the fact that the Protege is an old and not a commonly modified platform anymore. Just a guess though.
Hmm. I pumped gas at the same station I usually go to, pulled it out when it clicked, and otherwise filled it normally. I've had gas attendents top it off well past that and never had problems. So I'm still inclined to think it's the evap issue, though I'm sure things may have gotten a little...
Okay this has become a REAL problem now. Symptoms and diagnostic steps so far:
P0455 early on (or P0440? don't remember), came back every time I cleared it. Replaced the purge valve solenoid and it went away. But the solenoid sometimes just clicks in the bay so don't know what's wrong there...
I think I finally fixed this, but of course only out of absolute necessity since I've been putting it off. It finally got bad enough that I was completely stranded, and or course in the absolute middle of nowhere, while alone (see picture).

Okay yes I do remember this. Just never got around to trying the bulbs from that site. But if Blue Pro5 goes that direction I will probably do the same.
Let me know what you try for bulbs. I tried some cheap LEDs in the past and they had very uneven light distribution and would flicker intermittently. Right now I have a set of LEDs on the right and left sides and some halogens in the middle so it's a variety of different brightness and shades...
I've got a set sitting in a box. Have been debating whether to install them or not. I feel like they don't match the rest of the interior but maybe I'll give them a shot having seen your picture.
Dang. Well I ended up going with a new set of 195/55R16 Blizzak WS90s from Costco. Not as cheap but they should fit without issues. I still want to do the 205/55s at some point though so glad to know they work okay, thanks!
Bought this little spoiler lip for the P5. I've seen it on a few P5s and I think it looks cool. Have yet to receive and install, but thought I'd post the link since the site is having a sale until the 30th and I was able to get the lip for about $115 shipped which is decent I think...
Sadly nope, but not unexpected since it's kinda niche question. Maybe with some activity now it'll get bumped and people will see the thread.
Those are some sick looking MSPs! I'm definitely not going that crazy but figured it's a more common size and would be nice for ride quality etc.
I realize this is the age old question for Proteges, but would like to ask anyways, as most other threads are pretty dated.
Shopping for snow tires and my desired sizes are 195/55R16 or 205/50R16. A new set of Blizzak WS90s will run me $600+ which is okay, but I'm always inclined to first...
The issues persist so I'm digging into this a little more. I did some research (i.e. googled and asked the AIs 😁) and it just doesn't seem completely likely that the fuel pressure regulator solenoid itself is the problem.
The explanations I saw for why the car would have trouble with idling...

One notable thing - EGR CEL popped up again. Might order some parts to do a more thorough refresh of that while I'm at it. Not related though probably.
I'm having weird idle issues with my P5 right now. Wondering if anybody has suggestions.
It started with a P0440 code that would pop up every day or two and I would just clear. I did this for several weeks.
Replaced the EVAP solenoid commonly related to this code under the hood with an OEM...
