I'm guessing the CV joint. Anyone disagree?

...turning, when you can get grinding or knocking noises. But I doubt you would hear anything from them while stationary. From your symptoms I would think the LCA(s). I think you said you replaced them, but check the ball joints again anyway, and make sure all is tight (incl. the inboard bolts)

    Changing front struts, any recommendations?

At what mileage did your front struts begin to leak?

    CX-5 Clunk

Do you have a jack and the ability to remove your wheels? If so, check the springs like I showed in the video above. You should be able to see if they are out of place. Who knows, you may spot something else while you're in there.

    2016~2023 CX-9 Common Repairs Thread

2018 CX-9: Rear diff replacement at about 110k kms (~68k mi) Front passenger side LCA and both front struts replaced at around 120k kms (~74.5k mi) - this was due to hitting potholes with 285/35/22 tires while being lowered on CorkSport springs. Upcoming thermostat and ECT replacement at about...

    Mike's 2018 CX-9 Signature

Do you think Beck/Arnley is a good option? I typically prefer MOOG but I didn't find an LCA made by them for this car. I suspect my LCA was going on my 2017. That or an outer tie rod. However, some guy tried to cross all 4 lanes of Corydon without looking and smacked my car last month. It's now...

2014 CX-5 Lower control arm grease

As the bushing looks good on the LCA picture you posted, I wouldn't be in any hurry to replace it. It looks like it's been replaced already with an aftermarket one. Was the CV axle you replaced leaking grease and slinging grease around? I didn't see any mention if it was. I'm still curious about...

    Adjusting Front Camber after lowering

...with the drop I'm looking at? What will the resulting camber be (approx)? Ideally I'm looking for around -1 deg. 2) If so, how is it achieved? Are camber plates the only option? Is there some aftermarket strut mount with the studs shifted over slightly? Offset LCA bushing? Thanks.

    Mike's 2018 CX-9 Signature

New front struts installed with the CS springs, and passenger side LCA replaced. I had hoped to document the process and do the work myself, but I came down with strepthroat last week, so I had my mechanic do it instead. He said it was pretty straightforward, the only part that gave him a bit of...

    Mike's 2018 CX-9 Signature

...and there was a tiny bit. When I tried to move the whole wheel by pushing/pulling at 9 and 3, I noticed that the movement was happening at the LCA's bushings. From the quick research I did, Beck/Arnley seemed to be the best option available, aside from OEM. Crown Mazda quoted over $400 for...

Clunking noise from driverside front has mechanics stumped

It's exactly the same way on the CX-5. The LCAs/bushings/balljoint are all one unit. It was NOT easy for me (and others). The outboard ball end pinch-pin was a beast to remove from the socket on the upright. I ended up using a friend's oxy torch to heat it enough to get it out. Also, there...

New Brake Pad Recommendations for 2016.5 GT AWD?

I've always liked Raybestos Element 3 pads and rotors . I've not had any squeaking from either the o.e. brakes or raybestos replacements 🤷‍♂️ so I can't speak to that. As far as "creaking" noises, my guess would be suspension items like upper strut, LCA, etc.

I'm guessing the CV joint. Anyone disagree?

...position but not 12 and 6. Removed wheel and tightened just rotor on, same symptom still. Remove the axle nut and axle spline is free to slide in and out a bit, still play. Could it be the LCA ball joint. It looks like it moves a little when I grab the rotor and try moving it back n forth.

2013 Mazda CX-5 Front suspension “clunk” sound

usually either LCA balljoint, or end links, maybe a tie rod or LCA bushings as suggested.

Stabilizer links with OEM replaced - but weird now when driving

...with jack stands and I think stuff was drooped. Now wondering if I screwed it up. EDIT: I might have jacked up the wheel hub / knuckle when I tightened down the LCA and sway bar links, but now I honestly don't remember. Might have to just redo all those bolts just to be sure.

I'm guessing the CV joint. Anyone disagree?

You describe the noise as rubber squeaking as well as loud clunking. You said you recently replaced the LCAs. Did those not come with new BJs? Try disconnecting the sway bar links and going for a drive. That noise kinda sounds like sway bar bushings.

I'm guessing the CV joint. Anyone disagree?

...Also can here more of a clunking noise when hitting bumps and just going straight. Bouncing the suspension makes no noise. So end of 2024 LCAs were replaced and both front swaybar links replaced. I'm not sure if the LCA ball joints were reused of if they came with new, I didn't do the...

2014 CX-5 Lower control arm grease

I replaced the whole CV axle but I haven't inspected the front stabilizer bar end links.. I guess I'll check that one next .. crazy mystery at this point .. haven't done tire rods or LCA yet either

What have you done to your CX-9 today?

New front struts (FCS) and passenger side LCA (Beck/Arnley) went in over the weekend. Car is back to normal, minus a slight metal scraping sound (just the brake shoe that needs to be adjusted/bent back into place). Once I get my replacement tires on the wheels, I'll swap the winters off and...

    Sway Bar Bushing Replacement?
