Engine misfire problem multiple choice answer game. Come play.

I don't know enough to play but am eager to learn. It sounds like you have eliminated battery/alternator as possible culprits. May I ask why? I was chasing a persistent misfiring in #2 cylinder on my R56. A MINI mechanic went to great lengths and determined that it must be a hairline crack in...

    Battery drain

Good question that I don't know the answer to. 😁 I thought heat dissipates into the atmosphere? In my application, I only considered how extreme heat would reduce the panel's performance and lifespan. Most portable panels come with USB-A/C ports so it can keep producing after the 12v battery is...

    Battery drain

Here the connector from the battery (top-left) is connected to my primary maintainer (top-right, plugged into an AC outlet) which is keeping the level at 12.6v. The red/black set is coming from the panel on the dash.

    Battery drain

The maintainer claims to do that for me. 😅 Supposedly all of these "smart" battery maintainers can detect the level and adjust its output. Also, 20w is very low. On my 150-miles trip back yesterday, the panel was sitting on the dash, connected to the battery, and didn't cause any noticeable...

    Battery drain

Last year I started using a black felt dash mat. It keeps the dashboard from getting as hot in the sun. I also anchor the solar panel to the mat. With the battery in decent condition, you can just move the panel out of the way when you drive.

    Warranty extension for fail-safe thermostat

My experience is that once the temp gets up to 194F, it doesn't get lower than that, even in cooler weather or at higher speeds. It would go up to 210F in slow traffic. Does your app show you a second coolant temp value? I found out that there are two values for CX-3, one for the engine, and the...

What have you done to your CX-3 today?

The trunk space in the CX-3 is very limited so I have tried many different ways to organize my gears/supplies. Today I settle on a version that is hopefully final. Most of my wrenches, tools, and fasteners are in the three pouches strapped to the upper deck. A welding felt covers the pouches so...

    Battery drain

To help my weak battery, I set the edge of this 20w panel on top of the infotainment screen for better exposure when I drive. If you will leave the panel on your dash (connected or not) while driving, choose a panel that is entirely black with minimal silver lines (or worse, an orange frame)...

CX-5 check engine light on but no codes

If you're diligent about checking fluid levels (both radiator and overflow for coolant) then you're good. I have to have the OBD2 readings all the time. If something is off, I can freak out at my earliest convenience. 😬

CX-5 check engine light on but no codes

Did the store clear the code for you? If you Google the code (with Mazda) with AI, you'll get some clues about what the common causes are and what steps to take. There are a few things you can do to address the concern before it gets serious. On a side note, does your dashboard display...

CX-5 check engine light on but no codes

From your infotainment center, is there any info under "warning"? The car has a message for you and there's gotta be a way to read it without going to the dealership. If your handheld device isn't showing the codes, you can ask your local auto parts store to scan with their devices. Otherwise...

The plug is a bit loose so I use a mille-tie to hold it to the junction box.
