Soak bolts in PB blaster. Then use a 24" breaker bar. This is much much better than a wrench and hammer. The torque/leverage you get from a really long bar will beat a short wrench any day. could be a number of things. one possibility is the wastegate actuator going bad. could also be tuning related. Some of the MSPs run very rich a/f mixture from the factory, so it could be bogging out from that.

do you just have the 580EX triggering the 430 and 420? or do you have wireless triggers... like the Pocket Wizards or something?

I have a 430EX and it is a good flash. Honestly, if you are not using the power of a 580EX, then save the few hundred and get another lens. Alternatively, you can pick up a used 580EX for about $300+. That's a bit better than retail pricing. You can also combo your flash and set up a two flash...
