Is everyone's TPMS just a useless pain in the ass?

I have an update to this. I was having a problem the same as the OP, intermitent TPMS reports, pressures always fine. A few weeks ago, I changed to a different set of wheels that have their own TPMS sensors, and the problem is competely gone. Same pressures, same cell phone/electronics, etc...

    tie-down doesn't fit new battery

I had this problem in another car when I switched to an Optima. I made a spacer out of a block of lucite I had laying around, but you could make it out of anything. A nice chunk of wood would do fine, and easy to make into the shape you need. When you get it right, you can make it again out of...

    Mazdaspeed Coilover Question

I've got the Mazdaspeed coilovers, dropped about an inch. I installed the camber links at the same time. My alignment shop said it was a toss-up if I should have put the in or not, there is not quite enough camber with them in at that drop, probably too much without. If I had it to do over...

    Suspension Mod Suggestions

You should also get your alignment checked if you haven't done it yet. That much drop can change camber substantially, plus when you take the front apart it doesn't always go back in exactly the same place.

    Suspension Mod Suggestions

It is not bad to change the springs unless the spring rate is significantly different. If they are a lot stiffer, you need less compression damping and more rebound damping to keep it under control without being too harsh. Stiffer ARBs do great things for this car.

    $250 for a 7500 mile service !?

$250? That's what my Mercedes delear wanted for a "small" service when I was stupid enough to own one. Oh, but they had expresso for you while waiting in line for the service writer, I had a "personal" service writer who knew my name and email address and the names of my children, they gave me a...

Protege garage Triple pillar gauge pod

They are in the very top. This won't cause any problem with the bags because of how it is mounted to move away from the pillar and the bag deploys down from under the pillar cover.

    just for fun

Back in the days when I was autocrossing a Saab, I disassembled the handbrake lever and turned the ratchet around. This makes it so you must push the button in to make the brake stay on and if you don't push the button, you can just pull and release to do the turn and don't ever get the thing...

How to: bulb test on dash

Each push of the trip button takes you to the next test. Usually, the selected test just runs once. As far as I know, there is no way to have it do this automatically on startup.

    Anyone try Kumho Ecsta XS?

Update: I have driven on the XS for a couple of weeks now and I'm quite impressed. The first thing I noticed was the rattling under the fenders from picking up rocks on my unpaved driveway, just like the DOT race rubber on my other car. In the dry, they are very grippy, no more little blinky...

Do you work on your own car or do you take it to the stealership?

I also only have gone to the dealer for warranty work. I have done all of the other work on the car myself, except tire changes (I bring the wheels to the shop off the car) and one alignment. First, I live far enough away from the dealer that it's a real pain to go there, my shop is well enough...
