Roof mount Bike rack solutions with stock crossbars?

Anyone make use of Thule fork mount bike bars with U-brackets from Home depot? If I get Thule racks I'd like to mount the rack to my other car and retrofit the mounts to the P5 roof rails. But if that doesn't work then the sportrack "Nomad" looks to be the best option, and i love the name too!

Roof mount Bike rack solutions with stock crossbars?

I like those rocky mounts! That's exactly what I am looking for. I think that would be a very firm mount and the factory crossbars are heavier than most car bars I've seem anywhere. It's really strong when bolted to the car, I'm not worried. I'm going to go look at a Thule rack locally on CL...

Roof mount Bike rack solutions with stock crossbars?

I don't want to get a rack that mounts outside the car's existing roof rack. I don't want a rack that adds additional crossbars on top of my OEM crossbars, that's just retarded. I do want to use my stock rack as the factory installed it and then bolt on a fork mount bike unit onto those Mazda...

I've got one but haven't installed it yet. Not looking forward to the messy task. Even the 2.0 is a pain to change and still makes a mess!

removing engine head. Any advice or tips?

coolant in cyl = no need for comp check. Don't bother with mac/snappy. etc on ebay, many things go for rediculous prices, even used. C-man is good. They'll come out with more sales and are sure to have some good weekend sales after christmas. A good one is a 200 piece set they have with nearly...

Coolant leaking, blown head gasket or else?

headgasket can be popped from boost too PO was probably a hack Pull head, have it hot tanked and cleaned, checked and resurfaced if warped. Replace headgasket and other bits that you can. Reassembly is opposite of removal. Done

removing engine head. Any advice or tips?

Oh yeah, get a complete engine seal kit, replace anything you are near enough to pop a new gasket on, can't hurt. Replace coolant hoses, vacuum lines, thermostat, water pump, timing belt, tensioner, clean off the carbon from piston heads and clean up the cylinder head, replace spark plugs and...

removing engine head. Any advice or tips?

OK, first things first. do you have a decent set of tools? It sucks to keep having to run to the store for a socket or wrench. Tools: 1. Get a decent set of metric deep and short 6 point sockets. Get a 3/8 and 1/2 drive ratchet, something like Craftsman pro series is good. Less busted knuckles...

    Graduate Degree: completely flummoxed

to get into journalism you need to write, and write and write. To get into automotive journalism you need to write articles you think people want to read, and then shop them out to mags, websites etc. Do some research. Most freelance writers have to write a good intro/example of their article...
