2017~2025 CX-5 Cold Engine Oil Check

It says to wait at least five minutes. I check whenever I want to, sometimes ten hours after. I wonder if this procedure is to make sure that the new oil gets into the new filter too.

    Coolant overflow hose

Ideally the open hose on your overflow tank should point downward. If you keep the level below max in the overflow, there shouldn't be any excess coming out of it.

    Coolant overflow hose

My understanding is that the overflow tank is the same thing as the reservoir. The radiator (under the cap with the PSI rating) becomes pressurized when the car is running. When coolant in the radiator expands and reaches a certain pressure, the cap allows the excess to enter the overflow. When...

Grounding Cylinder Head Test Results (2024 CX-5 Turbo)

Thank you ALL especially AL! Being in a warm climate, the wires are probably OK. I have put away the extra cables for now and will focus on driving. 😁

So I changed my battery and my instrument cluster flipped itself

I have never seen anything like this before. It sounds like you've done all that there is to do. I read that it might fix itself: 😬 I thought I included a Reddit thread about this problem on Hyandais. 🤔

Grounding Cylinder Head Test Results (2024 CX-5 Turbo)

While browsing broadly to learn, I came across grounding kits that are meant to replace factory wires, for the same reasons you replaced functioning sensors. So far the only factory grounding wire that I found to be stand-alone, is the cylinder-to-chassis on the passenger side. It looks thin...

Grounding Cylinder Head Test Results (2024 CX-5 Turbo)

The discussion was so technical that I didn't know it was less than friendly. 😂

How insane is a 140mph+ speedometer?

My speedo goes from 0 to 140 mph and puts 70 at the top (12 o'clock). 60 at 11:55 and 80 at 12:05. It makes sense to put the range of safe speed at the top. 55 mph is for trucks and vehicles towing.

What 5W30 oil brand do you use in your CX-9?

I wonder what gave him the confidence, at 100K miles, to say no transmission service, and again and again at 200K, 300K, and 400K miles. Most people don't expect 400K from anything that is supposedly a "closed system" and "lifetime." 😅 He seems educated and diligent about other aspects of the...

Grounding Cylinder Head Test Results (2024 CX-5 Turbo)

I added one cable from the top skinny bolt on the alternator to the factory bracket (shared with factory cylinder-to-chassis cable). On the HKS Japan website, I didn't find simple kits like what are common here. They install a round plate on the battery ground terminal to grow an octopus of 12...

Grounding Cylinder Head Test Results (2024 CX-5 Turbo)

Thank you! With the clamp on meter, is 1 amp too low? A better connection point would read higher? Can I use this one with probes? Got it when I had electrical problems in May. When I monitored engine load in the past, the value was constantly changing. I recall that between the options of...

Grounding Cylinder Head Test Results (2024 CX-5 Turbo)

The alleged benefits and ease of installation convinced me to try. If you were my neighbor, I would have installed the wires for you already. Time is what I have. I assembled two wood models in two days like an addict. That's an expensive hobby because the models I want to build are priced over...

There is a vacant, threaded grounding point in the lower right corner.

This is a 1/2 inch round head bolt that I picked up from HD a few days ago. A longer one would probably work for the two points on the engine. The ring connector is flush against the underside of the bracket. Here I was able to secure the nut with a 10mm socket while tightening the top.

I can't really get both hands in the space between the firewall and the engine. These terminal bolts, if inserted square head up, the stud would almost touch the exhaust shield, and I can't hold the nut securely in that position. Need to check HD again for something that works better.

Grounding Cylinder Head Test Results (2024 CX-5 Turbo)

Got three wires now, two from the cylinder head (using existing holes) and one from the 5th bolt on the throttle body. Read somewhere else about folks grounding from the coil packs, but the bolts on my coil packs seem to be fasteners only... Further reading indicates that there are different...
