    o2 sensor yes, the O2 sensor is on the exhaust. I believe on this car it is screwed into the exhaust manifold and is REALLY EASY to get to. Just pick one up at an auto parts store or dealer (around $30), unplug and unscrew the old one and screw the new one in. I bet it would only take 15...

    Could be your O2 sensor. I have an old Audi that was doing the same thing, getting terrible MPG. I replaced the O2 sensor ($35) and it's back to normal. It's real easy...bolts into the exhaust. btw...this is my first post...getting my '02 P5 today!!! 29k, Blue
