2016 CX-5 hatch rattle; nut size needed

I wouldn’t as long as the lock nut was snug. You’re good to go.

Am I the only one happy with the OEM Toyo A36 Tires?

My stock Toyo A36s held up well sound and handling wise. Never got louder, just didn’t last too long against other options on the market. I replaced them today with 29,500 miles of use. There was still at least 5/32nd of tread on the inner and outer portion of the tread, but it was nearing the...

    Brakes Need Work Again

Shoot, it’s going to vary between pad manufacturers and vehicle makes. Need to do whatever they suggest or makes your comfortable.

    Brakes Need Work Again

You’ve got this! It was pretty satisfying getting rid of a shimmy on my new to me Titan. One of the caliper pins on the front wheel was bone dry. Pads appeared to be metallic brakes plus style cheapo material. Rotors were likely original. Brand new Raybestos element three pads and rotors all...

    Brakes Need Work Again

Do you have any long downhill descents? Folks tear their brakes up big time on our small mountain. You can often smell hot brakes at the bottom from being dragged the whole way down without downshifting. That’ll screw rotors up and can cause a shudder. As Baron suggested, it can be compounded by...

    Differential fluid change interval?

No problem! I can’t remember when Mazda changed the recommendation, but I remember that tidbit of information from Yrwei Post in thread 'Question on CX-5 Rear Diff fluid change' 2013~2016 - Question on CX-5 Rear Diff fluid change My ‘23 for sure calls for SG1 GL-4, but the first gen called...

    Differential fluid change interval?

Stick to Mazda SG1 (or a GL-4 equivalent that states SG1 equivalent) fluid to be on the safe side. I was going to use Amsoil 75w-85 until I double checked the required spec, and I didn’t want to use GL-5 in a GL-4 application.

2016 CX-5 hatch rattle; nut size needed

Wouldn’t need any Loctite if M6 is the right size. Double check the spare nut you have from the other side of the spoiler on the m6 post in Home Depot. If it fits, you’re golden. Those lock nuts would work fine

2016 CX-5 hatch rattle; nut size needed

Don’t forget to buy some loctite when you go to the hardware store! I did what N7 recommended years back on my ‘13. Sorry I don’t recall the size.

    Transmission filter under microscope

No problem! I fell down a rabbit hole looking up wear and transmission contamination and stumbled on old papers from Eleftherakis and Khalil (90’s). Thanks BITOG! They found 75% of transmission contaminants originate during the first 5k miles of use and then the transmission enters a steady...

New CX-5 Owner - AWD question

Wish we had some cat/trailer scale numbers for front vs rear wheels. Gross weight is max allowed spec, and we can only guess the distribution of the curb weight. Even though the front jacking point is slightly behind the front wheels, jacking the front of the cx-5 up requires more effort than...

    Transmission filter under microscope

Hey all! Transmission pan drop with filter and fluid replacement went well this week. 30k miles on the car and transmission filter for reference. I cut some of the filter media out for grins and giggles to see what its catching. Nothing crazy in there. I dried it out by pinching the media in a...

CX-5 Transmission: Drain and fill vs flush vs oil pan drop drain/fill?

Woo! Got her refilled and no leaks. Another quart drained overnight as I left the drain plug out. About 5.3-5.4 quarts drained total. Needed 5.6 quarts to get to the block on the dipstick, temp was about 130F by the time I got the level right. Only 7 minutes or so at idle got the transmission...

Scan Gauge II - X-Gauge Code - Transmission Fluid Temperature

Beautiful. 13 years later and this is the code I needed for my 23 Turbo CX-5. What a lord.

CX-5 Transmission: Drain and fill vs flush vs oil pan drop drain/fill?

No worries, thank you for the advice. Per Michelin the CC2 is the US tire and will remain the US model for several more years. I experienced no discernible loss in mpg on my RAV4 hybrid (38-40 mpg) so no concerns for the CX-5 already getting only 26 mpg overall. Never hydroplaned the CC2s and...
