Agreed it looks like bugs. Smooshed bug guts form a lacquer that hardens when it dries and is hard to wash off and can eat into the paint.

I mean you could say that about any gadget on modern cars these days. Why do I need TPMS on the tires? I can just check the air every couple of weeks or so. Or blind spot monitors. Just look at your mirrors before changing lanes. All of those things are added cost too.

The detailer could have used a two-in-one polish/sealant that does some minor paint correction and leaves a protectant for the paint but, if he did, it obviously wasn’t enough to put the shine back in your paint. I’d try a mild polish first to see if that makes a difference. If it doesn’t, try...
