    New Transmission Costs

That's normal. The transmission pan bolts are fastened kind of loose vs any other bolt on your vehicle. If you use a torque wrench you'll need one capable of measuring inch pounds. I can't remember the exact spec but it's in the ball park of 70-90 inch pounds. Double check the bolt spec for your...

    New Transmission Costs

Onlinemazdaparts.com (dealer in NC). They were about $1.20 a piece, now they’re running $1.58 each there (PN 9YA010615A)

    New Transmission Costs

No problem! I don’t have calipers handy so these are rough measurements with an old metric ruler. The diameter of the hex head is 10mm. Length of the bolt is 15mm from bottom of head to end of body. Theres 2mm of body length between the head and thread for the washer. The threaded section is...

2013~2016 AWD CX-5 Replacing Rear Shocks - Questions

That’s great that some aftermarket mounts are available. They weren’t a thing when I replaced my rear shocks at least 5 years ago. Based on the vehicle mileage and rust, ehh…, I’d probably suck it up and pay to get the rear shocks replaced altogether. I know one mount is broke but might as well...

    New Transmission Costs

You’ve done some cool stuff souping up that CX-5 in a short time though! Here’s a pic of the old pan bolts. I held onto them for some reason for a rainy day. Two on the top were original and the one on the bottom is a new spare. Old me would’ve saved a few bucks and cleaned them with a wire...

    New Transmission Costs

Great thread! I never noticed a change in transmission behavior on my old ‘13 2.0L. It performed great it’s whole life when I did 3 drain and fills at 50k miles, and 3 drain and fills with a pan drop and filter change at 100k miles. I used RTV to reseal the pan without issue. I didn’t plan to...

$40 for a jug of coolant

Not too different than those $50-75 HVAC “tune-ups”. Hard to find a reputable company that isn’t going to come out and try to sell you a whole new HVAC system or unneeded repairs. Really nice coupon OP received, I’d love to get one just to use on cheaper maintenance items for DIY

Auto lights switching to night during day?

Possibly two different issues. Have you had the windshield replaced? I’m wondering if the rain/light sensor on the windshield fell off. That caused my mother in laws ‘18 to dim the displays during the day. You can override this setting in the infotainment by choosing day instead of automatic...

Vague Transmission Oil Change Recs Vs Common Sense & Reality

That’s quite telling with back of the napkin statistics. Leaving the transmission alone with the factory fill likely results in a lot less failures than servicing with non-FZ fluid. I imagine the majority of people aren’t touching the factory fill of transmission fluid, so to hear more than half...

*Unpopular Opinion* I just got greased at the dealer and I don't care

Ah, that makes sense. Two signs of malfunction. There is a malfunction message, and a DTC was generated to accompany it. Glad they could fix your phone/car comms issue with a software update!

*Unpopular Opinion* I just got greased at the dealer and I don't care

No worries! Not a lot of info to go off of (agreed, systems don’t communicate to DTCs. DTCs are generated to communicate an issue). Even OP didn’t know there was an issue of some sort, I’m interested to hear what the dealership described was the issue on the inovice.

*Unpopular Opinion* I just got greased at the dealer and I don't care

Don’t have a dog in the fight here, but this could also be the telematics or telecommunications control unit. That could have an issue with the infotainment. Didn’t see anything that suggested a transmission issue :)

Is this a symptom of the Ghost Touch?

I second that. My mother in laws cx-5 screen had the anti glare coating flaking off. No idea what was applied but treat it with care.

Is this a symptom of the Ghost Touch?

It took me months to realize the ghost touch issue wasn’t just intermittent, it happened only when stopped. I thought the car had a mind of its own until my personal eureka moment. The screen was providing false input but as we know and love, our 2nd gen CX-5s Mazda infotainment systems only...

A Purist’s Perspective - One Day with the 2024 Mazda CX-5 Signature Turbo

This is a big issue IMO with the current generation RAV4 equipped with a sunroof. I’m 5’11” and my head is within 2” of the headliner. I’m ok with it on my ‘21 RAV4 Hybrid, but our CX-5 is downright spacious with respect to headspace. I don’t know how anybody 6ft or taller could be comfortable...

Best Tires for 2021 CX-5 Turbo?

All terrains are generally louder than all season. No complaints from what I’ve seen for the Wildpeaks, just not as quiet as some of the all-seasons mentioned here in this thread. Slightly more road noise would be my expectation to not be disappointed down the road.

No transmission maintenance interval recommended in owner's manual?

Good to know, thanks for sharing that! Edited my post to clarify.

No transmission maintenance interval recommended in owner's manual?

Personally, I’ll use Aisin or Mazda FZ. We all seek aftermarket when it’s cheaper and perceive it as good quality right? In this case Aisin is marketed (by a company that (manufactures transmissions, EDITED, please see sinistriel‘s post below). If I can’t get it much cheaper than OEM when the...

Best Tires for 2021 CX-5 Turbo?

Those are pretty popular over on the RAV4 forum that I frequent. Great if you need three peak rating and you do some off-roading. I think they might be slightly louder and you could take a slight hit to your gas mileage, only cons I can think of.
