Horrible gas mileage in brand new CX-5

Was the 93 octane ethanol-free? I always get better mpg with ethanol-free, no matter 91 or 93 octane.

    CX-5 gas tank issue

I remember on a recent trip stopping several times and for some reason each time it took 11.2 gal to fill. Of course I don't want to completely run it out of gas but the manual says 15 gals I believe.

2015 CX-5 2.0L — Light Knocking Sound at Idle After Cold Start?

Not a lot of miles but I think some people have had some problems with the pulley. It might leak hydraulic fluid and you can see it. It's good to use a flashlight. The water pump should last a long time so there's no interval, but a 2015 could have a lot more miles, that's why I asked.

    Dealership or Jiffy Lube

They don't need much, so unless the dealer is fabricating problems or extra expensive extra services she shouldn't need to see them very often.

    CX-5 gas tank issue

The range computer changes its estimate of remaining miles according to recent driving habits and mpg. I've noticed that at times the estimated range has gone up, because I went from urban driving to cruising on the highway driving with better mpgs, causing the computer to re-estimate the range...

2015 CX-5 2.0L — Light Knocking Sound at Idle After Cold Start?

So, it's about 10 years old, how many miles? Have you used a stethoscope or something to listen to the knock? Does the knock go away, or is it worse if you stop and idle after a long drive? Have you ever replaced items like the water pump, or idler pulley on the serpentine belt?

2018 Mazda CX-5 Various Electrical Issues

It might be something unusual, critters are a possiblity, as this is the time of year they plan invasions. Maybe a bad ground somewhere important, as all of the codes refer to various communication modules. Do you drive through deep water on the way to work?

Change spark plugs strictly by mileage?

Are you having any driveability issues? Do you drive a lot of short trips and idle the engine a lot? If you idle the engine a lot you might be fouling the plugs without logging miles, so there is that to consider. If you drive the car about 80mph on the highway for several hours it can help...

I've read about this new Valvoline Restore and Repair, anything like this HSS Stiction Eliminator ?

From the Sith (VW) to the Jedi (Mazda). Insights Welcome

Some people don't like the CX-50 as much as the CX-5 because of the body style, I guess. I would go with Miata and keep the alltrack.

Aftermarket fuel injectors ok? 2016 CX-5

Is contamination what causes the O2 sensors to fail? They can last a long time, maybe 100k miles, maybe more sometimes.

2021 CX-5 Passenger Window Switch Replacement

Did somebody spill something in there? I think the switches usually last a long time.

AC, Fuse and Cooling Fan issues?

Does the fan motor turn freely? I'm not sure if relays blow fuses, but a bad motor definitely could blow a fuse.

2021 CX-5 Passenger Window Switch Replacement

I think there is a screw in the armrest under a trim piece. I've never replaced the window switch but I think it is accessible when you get everything apart. Breaking clips when you pop them out seems to be completely normal, I broke a few when I was installing sound deadening in the doors.

Horrible gas mileage in brand new CX-5

I always fill the tank with the non ethanol when I get the chance, I guess it is solely for the increased range. I'm sure I would prefer non-ethanol for the same price as the E10. Supposedly the price of ethanol is lower than gasoline, so it makes sense that the E10 is cheaper. But why do they...

I always get better gas mileage with the no-ethanol premium.

A Look Inside the Body of an Off-Duty Oil Filter

Both of the filters looked very clean, even under the microscope. I agree that it looks like the Mazda filter might have better flow as not only the element has more area but the media is much more 'open' .
