The tint is applied to the inside, so not really. It just tripped my sunglasses out so much that I couldn't wear them, so the tint did the exact opposite of what I wanted and made me squint more.

My tint guy talked me into a light tint on the windshield and it SUCKED. Basically, wearing polarized sunglasses = blind. I ended up paying an arm and a baby's leg to have it removed. Tint is like tattoos like that, it's much more painful to get rid of than to put on.

Perhaps the coating is there simply to prevent rust on parts of the rotor that don't come in contact with the pads. Check out this Miata's brake. Cosmetic or not, that rotor is being eaten.

I'm thinking probably because the auto tranny has a transmission cooler or something of the sort that makes it a different shape than the manual, so the pipe runs around it a little differently? That's 100% thinking out loud. I really have no idea. lol

I've noticed over the years that dark colors seem to get dirty quicker than lighter ones. I had a sunlight silver protege for years and it hid dirt pretty well. My new car is more gunmetal colored and it definitely needs washes more often than the old car.
