PLEASE READ - Clunk in the trunk = bad news

So we've all heard of the clunk in the trunk after lowering springs on P5. Well, what you haven't heard are the damages caused by it. When I had my Tein S-Techs on OEM struts, I never had a clunk initially. After a couple of months, it started in the rear / right corner only. I did the washer...

    Annoying noise

Yeah, we did the same when we put my Teins in. But when we replaced the struts this past weekend, obviously we couldn't do that. Ended up having to replace one of the rear endlinks, the other was fine. But the one that was replaced was on the passenger side, and that's where I'm getting teh...

    struts question

I think you're probably talking about the CLUNK in the trunk. Not a squeek. If it's a clunk, then you're right,...new struts won't get rid of it. Trust me,....I just put in HPs on the weekend hopeing it would get rid of the clunk. But no such luck.

    Annoying noise

Damn. So much for that theory. I just don't understand why some people get the clunk, and others don't.

    struts question

No problems doing that. The only downside is that it means you'll have to go for 2 alignments. I guess you could just do a 2 wheel alignment each time though, so it's not much of an issue.

    Annoying noise

I don't understand it either. I've had various setups and different results, and it's really annoying the crap out of me. 1) God Awful Tom Motorsport sleeve-type coilovers w/ OEM struts = no clunks, but lots of grinding (typical of these bad fake coilovers) I then replaced them with 2)...

new pics - updated DIY mesh...

Paint is a lot more durable than you would think. I really don't see why anyone would need to powdercoat the gutter mesh. Even if the paint started to flake, you could easily take it off an re-paint. P-Coating will chip eventually too. Save yourself some cash and just paint it. If you're really...

looks sweet. That's the 3rd set of painted rims I've seen lately that looked just as good as powdercoated ones. Only thing I wonder is how it will stand up to daily driving. But s***,...for the price of paint instead of p-coat. Well done!

    Hood Pins (yes, no, how?)

I know this has been discussed before, but I'm looking for a little bit more info than I was able to find by searching. Personally, I hate the look of hood pins, but I think I'm going to put them on for safety reasons. Originally the hood was flapping like mad when I drove on the highway. Once...

    Rim Colour??

I agree with Phil about white on midnight blue (but I'm biased). Other than that, I'd second the votes for black with polished lip. Here's a pic of my OLD rims. They have since been replaced, but the new ones aren't on yet, so I don't have any pics of them on the car. A lot of other stuff on...
