I can't specifically say for the CX-5, but the C panel speakers for the CX-9 (which are probably the same thing) mount from the rear. Only the speaker grille itself mounts from the front.

If the wires were pulled, they may have been pulled for a reason. You can try a radio from a junkyard, or you could go aftermarket. Either would (should) work. If they don't work, something electrical is wrong, and a rabbit hole is on your future.

All the radio needs to trigger is a 12V signal. Just tap at the reverse bulb using the red wire that every reverse camera has built-in to the RCA video signal cable.
