2.5L NA Cracked Cylinder Head with Oil Leaking

Sounds like Mazda is covering the repair less $500. Cracked cylinder head is a known issue on CX-5 pre 2022. Mazda extended warranty on turbo to cover cracked cylinder head for 10 yrs. That why I asked if it was a turbo.

2.5L NA Cracked Cylinder Head with Oil Leaking

Do you have the turbo? Turbo is covered for 10yr/120,000 miles. If not I'd call Mazda corporate and raise HELL. 25k miles is way too low for this to happen and it shouldn't happen at all.

    Observations Comparing My 2016 and 2019 CX-5

know you can on older Honda's and the latest GM trucks. From Google search: Because it's integrated into the engine's control system and managed by the Engine Control Unit (ECU) for optimal fuel efficiency. There isn't a readily available setting or mode to turn it off, unlike some...

New Mechanic Swapped My Wife’s Engine?

Another thing - If I took my vehicle in for oil chg, tires and brakes and they called me and said they couldn't get to it for a couple days - I'll go get it and bring it back the day they could or find another shop.

Is this a symptom of the Ghost Touch?

Couple of times lately the radio has started changing stations on its own. Almost like the seek button is engaged. Then it will stop and work normally for days. Not sure how the dealer could diagnose it if it's happening infrequently. Anybody that had this problem - will it get worse? 2019 CX-5

Question on TPMS for 2016 CX-5 (not sensors)

I didn't get new tires, only rotation. It's been couple days and the light has not returned so I'll chalk it up to distracted service tech. The service video showed him rotating and checking everything so he must of just forgot to hit the reset button.

    Mazda Service

That and engine filters are big rip-offs. Although trying to open the glove box to replace the cabin air filter is not that easy. If you're not careful when you tilt the glove box down the whole thing will fall off. Happened to me a couple weeks ago.

    Mazda Service

It's not nationwide as far as I know. It's just the individual dealer trying to add to their bottom line. I've had both my CX-5's into the dealer for all service for the last 10 years and never once did they try to sell me anything that I did not ask for.

Question on TPMS for 2016 CX-5 (not sensors)

I think you're right and he didn't reset it. I had to go back out so I reset it and drove about 8 miles and it did not come on. Hopefully that's all it was.

Question on TPMS for 2016 CX-5 (not sensors)

Does anybody know if the TPMS icon will light if pressure is increased in tires as opposed to psi just dropping below a programed threshold? This happened this morning - had tires rotated at dealer. Left dealer about 2 miles later the TPMS warning chimed and the dash icon lit. Stopped and...

2018 CX-5 - is replacement cylinder head updated?

Contact Mazda corporate and ask them. You could always purchase a Mazda extended warrranty. I haven't heard anything about a warranty extension on the N/A engines but they did issue one for the turbos.

FYI: Rebate of $15 @ O'Reilly Auto on motor oils

Watch those prepaid cards, found out the hard way they're not accepted everywhere even though they're VISA. They're issued by a gift company (forget the name) and some restaurants won't take them.
