no, it's not polish, it's 'slag grit'. when I rub my hand along the uncut, unpolished weld something like a coarse sand comes off.

I am mostly worried about the grit coming loose and getting into the engine and turbo...I suppose it just gets a scrubbing then?

I have had some hard pipes made up for my MSP. They are stainless, were mendrel bent and tig welded. I went down to check them out and while the outside looks really clean (ground down and polished) the inside of the welds are still rough and gritty....how should they look when they are...

I think that it was probably the camera man making those comments, but I like to think that it was the driver, and he was serious, making the comments as it is funnier that way.
