    New Guy

I talked to a friend who works at a car company (not a dealer but the actual company) about the demise of Stick shift. Simply put, it's not really the manufacturer's fault. If people would buy them, they'd certainly sell them. Bottom line is that most consumers don't want stick shift anymore...

    February 2010 Mazda5 sales

The execution of Mazda USA has been less than stellar the past 2 years . If you look at Kia, Hyundai and also Subaru Feb sales, Mazda is downright ugly. They made a huge mistake with the 6 and poured millions of marketing dollars into that vehicle and sales have tanked. On the other hand, the...

    Another new 5 owner...

Welcome! It's a wonderful vehicle. Easily one of the most versatile cars I've ever bought. The only problem I have with is is Mazda's marketing.... which is basically non-existent. It's interesting what you said about "stumbling upon" the Mazda 5. I did the same thing. I didn't even know...

New Mazda 5 owner in IA

Welcome! This is a great forum. The Mazda 5 really makes driving a minivan cool. Sorry can't help you with the DRL issue but I'd be curious to also find out the answer.

    "Auto" sliding doors?

OK.. I think you are just confusing us... or maybe just me. :) You know there isn't an automatic closer (in US). But then you say the one at the auto show was? "Just pulling the latch" closes it. Isn't that the definition of automatic? Or is the auto show one not available for sale in the...

    "Auto" sliding doors?

In the US version NONE of the Mazda 5 doors close automatically. They are all manual. Mine is a 2008 too. They close very easily (can slide it with my pinky) but definitely not automatically.

Mazda5 is Consumer Reports' Top Family Hauler for 2010

It'll be interesting if this results in any sales increase... since Mazda doesn't really advertise the 5 on its own.

    Mazda5 Rent2buy Update

$350 sounds about right. If you had the second key you could make your own duplicate for around $25.

    Mazda5 Rent2buy Update

Reminds me of our company trips were we'd have contests to see who could get all 4 wheels off the ground with our rental cars... To each their own, but personally I'd never buy a rental just because of the abuse they take and also they are not well taken care of by the car companies. They...

    Mazda5 Rent2buy Update

+1 on the second key. Without it you can't make a duplicate. You have to go back to Mazda and it will cost you $$$.

On the Fence: MZ5 or CX9???

+1 on the lack of roominess in the CX7 compared to the 5. It feels cramped compared to the 5. But it definitely has zoom zoom.

    Official 2011 Mazda5 Thread

"All the sportiness is gone"?? Is sportiness only in the way it looks? It's funny how everyone seems to be commenting only on the looks. I guess I'm the minority but I'm more interested in the engine.

    Official 2011 Mazda5 Thread

I'm upset that the i-stop feature probably won't make it into the US version barring a change in rules by the EPA. The way the EPA calculates mileage, the i-stop feature would not show up in mileage figures for the Mazda5 even though it is estimated that it would increase city gas mileage by up...

    Official 2011 Mazda5 Thread

It's a little upseting that the i-stop feature on the 2011 Mazda5 won't be coming to the US... unless the EPA changes its stupid rules.

    Snow Tires Mazda5

lol. I'm from S. Cal too. I grew up in upstate NY and remember the ritual of having to change the tires on all the cars twice a year. I definitely do not miss driving in the snow at all...

    Opinions on window tinting wanted.

So does Canada allow tinting all the way around? In the US I'm fairly certain that in most states, it is illegal to tint the front windshield.

    Opinions on window tinting wanted.

I've heard that Windex without Amonia is fine. If course I'm NOT an expert on this. My tint installer said to avoid any cleaners with amonia in it. He said over time it will ruin the film. I've never used amonia based cleaners so I don't really know if his words are true. So maybe you can...
