    Questions Before I Buy CX-50

It is really unfortunate that an apparently high demand new vehicle for Mazda isn't available in the volumes the market could support. And it isn't just Mazda being challenged by supply chain issues--besides the US maker challenges more commonly on the news here, I've seen that Toyota and...

Mazda Smart Fob Emergency Key Check (CX-50)

Excellent to know--thank you! Hopefully they can cut the new version as well.

Mazda Smart Fob Emergency Key Check (CX-50)

Probably a good idea to verify before you might actually need to use them that the emergency keys inside of both CX-50 key fobs are able to open your driver's side door. If your fob battery is dead, the key is used for manual access to your locked vehicle and you can then start the car by using...

High Level Dashcam install (formerly No Switched Interior Fuses for Dashcam Installs)

First of all, apologies for not taking pictures. I'm one of those dive right in and get 'er done types, plus I work in my garage and lighting is terrible for photos since I use one of those LED headlamps for focused task lighting. While the Mazda accessory auto-dimming Homelink mirror part #...

High Level Dashcam install (formerly No Switched Interior Fuses for Dashcam Installs)

I'm going to tap into the same wiring the instructions for the CX-50 auto-dimming Homelink mirror harness use. Two harnesses are used, one for the mirror and a second from the upper console (lights/sunglasses area). Started yesterday but ran into some minor obstacles and ran out of time. Easy...

High Level Dashcam install (formerly No Switched Interior Fuses for Dashcam Installs)

Thank you--do you remember which exact fuse you used there, and did you use a fuse tap or another method? Also, did you add a wiring loom around the switched power wire for heat protection on the engine side? I remember seeing someone who had done that on one of the CX-30 forums (maybe it was...

    Current CX-50 Owners: Wired CarPlay?

Okay, finally figured out that if your vehicle has the in-car Wifi hotspot set up, it requires the disabling of the wireless CarPlay connection to use (and it tells you that when you go to turn on the wifi). I've seen online this behavior is also the same for other non-Mazda vehicles with...

    Current CX-50 Owners: Wired CarPlay?

Aha, yes, I do the same thing--I search my destination on my phone or desktop before I leave and then also save that destination if one I will be using more than once but irregularly.

    Current CX-50 Owners: Wired CarPlay?

Do you mean that while in CarPlay the Mazda nav isn't easily accessed? Or do you mean the CarPlay Google Maps is less featured than the phone app version? If the latter, there are still a lot of features in the CarPlay GM version, but harder to access as things are within sub-menus, etc...

High Level Dashcam install (formerly No Switched Interior Fuses for Dashcam Installs)

I wanted to carry over my Blackvue 900X Plus dashcam from my CX-5. The X and X Plus series require 3 wire connection (ground, battery and switched). The switched is required to put the cam into "Parking Mode" when the ignition is turned off and where these cams themselves actively monitor...

    CX-5 Aftermarket Crossbars on CX-50

Assuming you mean aftermarket vs the factory Mazda crossbars for the CX-50: The Yakima Ridgeline base towers I currently own along with the Jetstream Aero bars on the CX-5 supported 165lbs, which as reported elsewhere seems to match the CX-50 OEM bar's limit. The limitation here is the bars...

    CX-5 Aftermarket Crossbars on CX-50

In case anyone else is following this topic: I purchased a CX-50 PPT this past weekend and while at the dealer, confirmed that the roof rails of the 50 are a different profile versus those on the current MY CX-30. I was hoping they would be more similar so that the 30's Yakima crossbar clamp...

New YouTube review for CX-60 PHEV

Thanks! I saw a different video review yesterday. Among other things, I really like that driver-specific auto seat and steering wheel adjustment tech. I hope it makes it to the North American models.

    Current CX-50 Owners: Wired CarPlay?

Thank you. I think you are talking about the CX-5, as my current '19 CX-5 has (only) that wired CP USB port in the storage area under the armrest, but no wireless. But, my question is about the CX-50. ;)

    Current CX-50 Owners: Wired CarPlay?

Do either of the front USB connections also permit wired Carplay, or is the vehicle strictly wireless? I know some vehicles with wireless CP also allow a wired connection. I forgot to check if there were any icons printed next to the front ports when at the dealer this week. The current owner's...

Anyone with seat time in the CX-50 who has a CX-5?

The front cabin I felt definitely looks and feels wider than the CX-5--more clearly rectangular, if you will, due to the lower headroom. And while dimensions-wise it is physically wider, visually it looks even more wide than the 5 because of the different proportions. The less cluttered...

Anyone with seat time in the CX-50 who has a CX-5?

I should have clarified further that I'm absolutely fine with my 2019 CX-5 drivers seat, but the CX-50 seat feels ever better to me, whether that's due to redesign or just being "virgin" seats, or both And, the 2019 is head and shoulders above my previous 2016 front seats. I think that one...

    CX-5 Aftermarket Crossbars on CX-50

Not sure if cross-posting is allowed from other CX-50 forums, but I located a similar discussion elsewhere confirming these same concerns. It seems even the OEM crossbars depending on what's loaded on them will mean the sunroof should not be opened due to clearance issues.
