2016~2023 Towing capabilities: CX-9 vs Ascent

Here's an interesting video about towing capacity between NA and Euro cars and why essentially the same car in NA often has more towing capacity in Europe: By the way, I think the European and Australian CX-9 has a tow rating of 2000kg or 4400 lbs -- 900 lbs more than the NA CX-9.

2016~2023 Towing capabilities: CX-9 vs Ascent

Thanks for the good information. I didn't start the subject to discuss if the CX-9 could tow trailers or not (it can). It was about why with nearly identical specs the Ascent can tow 1500 lbs more. One thought was better transmission cooling. I think we could add an aftermarket transmission...

2016~2023 Towing capabilities: CX-9 vs Ascent

Wondering how is it that the 2.5 turbo of the CX-9 with up to 250 hp tows 3500 lbs, but the 2.4 turbo of the Subaru Ascent with 260 hp can tow up to 5000 lbs. If anyone can educate me on why there's such a difference with similar sized engines I'd be interested how that works.

Chrome delete and wheels black gloss paint on 2019 CX-9

@todojelev That's nice looking. I'm thinking of blacking out the grill and wheels, too, on my white CX-9. How much did it cost to plasti-dip the grill and paint the wheels? Would you mind uploading a couple more photos of the grill straight on and a little bit further away from the car, and...

I have the 20" wheels on my 2017 AWD. We're required to have chains in the car even if might not need them in WA State. Any recommendations? Anyone try these: AUTMOR Chains

Any Word on the 2020 CX-9 Changes?

No, I understand that was from the article and not you personally. I agree that the rear cargo could be better. By not changing the overall length, not sure how they'd do this other than pushing the cabin up farther into the hood area. Also the rear rake of the rear hatch could be less steep...

LOL. I think the CX-9 is already long enough.

Any Word on the 2020 CX-9 Changes?

While they do look nice, I prefer the bench. I like the option of having the ability to seat seven instead of six passengers, which we've done when we had family visiting.

    New Member & New CX-9

Took ours on a three day camping trip this past summer. With four people and all the camping gear definitely needed to get a cargo box. Since we don't camp a lot or do any skiing, just went with a basic cargo box, which is a SportRack SR7016. Worked perfectly with no problems.

Traffic Sign Recognition for 2016/17 models?

Thanks youri -- good info. However, even if I figured out how to use Forscan for the CX-9, it wouldn't work in my situation for turning on the TSR. TSR uses the Forward Sensing Camera and my CX-9 doesn't have that installed.

Traffic Sign Recognition for 2016/17 models?

Based on this, it appears Smart City Brake uses a laser and not the Forward Sensing Camera: https://www.mazda.com/en/innovation/technology/safety/precrash_safety/sbs/

Traffic Sign Recognition for 2016/17 models?

For the 2016/17 models, there was a separate Tech Package available for the GT. It was all standard in the US GT. It might have changed in 2018. Read this: https://www.autotrader.ca/research/mazda/cx-9/2016/ I have navigation, so I was hoping it would pull the information from the navigation...

Traffic Sign Recognition for 2016/17 models?

I have a 2017 CX-9 GT. It does not have the package that has the radar cruise control/lane assist part of it, as Canadian models made that an option. Anyway, is there a way to get the traffic sign recognition to show up in the active driving display for 2016/17 models?
