Serious problems with my Mazda5. RIP?

I think you can probably relax some. Oil leak is not a fatal issue, unless it is a hole in the block... Straightforward usually to diagnose the source of the leak, though sometimes repairs can be more tricky depending on what it is that's leaking. Obviously, keep the oil level correct until...

What have you done to your Mazda5 today?

Mostly RAAM audio stuff. I sourced the MLV elsewhere (semi-local theater company) due to shipping costs.

    Sound Deadening

torquelover, look into the decoupled MLV sound deadening concept. Especially for the floor, where the install is super simple. The "multiple layers of Dynamat" (or other equivalent product) is the "old" way of thinking in vehicle sound deadening. I know for me, it was all I knew 15 years ago...

    Sound Deadening

I can't speak to any possible increase in noise with mileage, my car is a 2013 w/ 15k miles so far. Tires to get significantly louder as they wear. Yes, the first pic is the CLD (contained layer damper) tiles. There are many brands, the most well-known being Dynamat. They reduce resonance...

What have you done to your Mazda5 today?

I started working on the sound deadening that has been on my to-do list since about a year ago...

    Sound Deadening

Read a bit at sounddeadenershowdown.com, he's got a good synopsis of the current best practices for sound deadening a car. It used to be Dynamat, Dynamat, and more Dynamat, now it is targeted use of CLD, and a barrier layer (usually MLV) decoupled from the vehicle structure with CCF. As a...

Mazda5 BC Racing BR Type Coilovers - Review and Install

When doing my turbo, I spent about 30 minutes trying to get the stock manifold out, with the cowl still installed. Spent 5 minutes removing the cowl, and the manifold was out minutes later. I bet the 5 minutes to remove the cowl was totally worth it in this situation also. So much more room...

What have you done to your Mazda5 today?

Looks like a really good overhaul. Maybe someday I'll get some side skirts, they make a big difference visually. (IMO)

Have you driven it yet? How's it feel?

    Recommend: e-focus rear motor mount

Pig, what is your intended application for your car? I ask because all evidence seems to indicate that the PM and TMM are much much more likely to introduce objectionable amounts of vibration, compared to the RMM. Just a warning in case you weren't aware.

NEW Mazda5 owner, how do you disable 2 step down windows?

Just push the button fully instead of halfway? (shrug) (dunno)

What have you done to your Mazda5 today?

Just cut your stock ones in half, it'll be hella flush, yo.

    Recommend: e-focus rear motor mount

Picture of the two mounts below. Stock mount on top, e-Focus mount on bottom. It is obvious that the stock mount is heavily biased towards comfort, and not towards controlling engine movements.

    Recommend: e-focus rear motor mount

Hey all, not sure if this is news or not. I had to do some research to find it. I installed an electric Focus rear motor mount (that is, the RMM from the electric version of the Ford Focus. Not an electric motor mount) a couple days ago. Ford PN CM5Z-6068-A. Available where ever Ford parts...

Installing Morimoto HID Kit and comparison to stock

Yes, polishing removes the UV protective layer on the lens which is still operating even though it is yellowing. Polishing and removing it means that the hazing will come back sooner, and it will penetrate through the depth of the lens, not just the surface, so future polishings will be less...

    To badge or to debadge...

Hadn't considered the Premacy option. That's a good option, I'm not sure why but it just doesn't appeal to me much though.

    To badge or to debadge...

I'm shocked to hear that there might be holes! I would have bet money it was just a flat adhesive badge.

    To badge or to debadge...

Not my car, not even my color. Just a pic I pulled from autoblog and modified. (this question is specific to my car, with the turbo installed. not a general question for all mz5's.)

Silicone insert mats just arrived from China...

My 2013 door panels are the same as yours, I just double checked in the garage. Maybe 5's that go to Asia have different door panels? Seems unlikely, but maybe. Or maybe that insert fits a first gen? No clue what they look like.

Installing Morimoto HID Kit and comparison to stock

Since you seem dedicated to the idea of 55W HID high beams regardless, no, they won't melt your lamps into a pile of liquid plastic. They MAY do less noticeable damage to the internal structures of the lamp, over time where you are less likely to notice the reduction in performance. But no one...
