Shift errors study--with Weight vs. W/O

Balky shifting areas seems to be more common to cable shifters on tranversely mounted motors...more places where slack can occur plus a motor that may like to shift fore and aft.

Shift errors study--with Weight vs. W/O

Tru-boost...your spelling suggests you are a bit buzzed or not too bright....since it's a bit late on a Sat. night, I'll assume the first. My "study..forgot that second apostrophe, eh Bucko..... suggests that "pure coincidence" ( note the correct spelling, mon ami) may not be the reason for less...

Shift errors study--with Weight vs. W/O

I do have a TZR rear mount(poly) BTW. As to the total 20 missed per my criteria with "the weight" vs. 8 total w/o "the weight" over the 20 days, my 94 mile/day commute goes from Brevard to Highlands, NC via Rt. 64 which has a very Tail of the Dragon feel to it. Note I also made a point of...

Shift errors study--with Weight vs. W/O

I did a little "clinical trial" with the gear linkage weight ON and OFF. Too hard to do re: number of upshifts and downshift totals so used a 30 day driving period where my 08 MS3 was used on my 94 mile/ day /5 day commute week. The route is very curvy with many up/down mountain road altitude...

Time for replacing the tires...need advice

ASX is pretty decent all-weather, 12-15K miles with a heavy right foot. Fuzion ZRi pretty comparable to the Kumho. You guys get some pretty good rain down there so a summer tire while new will do but hydroplaning will develop at 5-6/32's and below.

    Ms3 Rx-8 wheels

TPMS on my RX-8 rims worked fine..I wear Potenza S0-2 225/45-18's with, obviously, no rubbing, stock height.

    Falken RT615 225/40/18 reinforced - best PSI?

I have found that the 615's don't tolerate heat as well as some so I run them at a higher inflation...I find that the fronts cold at 40 psi will show 44 psi when run aggressively which suggests they are happy here...a 10% pressure increase when hot seems to be the suggested norm. Overall the...

removed air ram to battery box

Their is a removeable plastic panel, about 1.75" x 4", in front of the stock air intake, a bit towards center, you could remove to direct air from the grill area. Remove the top plastic pieces held by the pop-in plastic plugs and you will see it easily. It can be reinserted if you like..just...

    Brake Pads..?

Cheap..?...Mazda's OEM pads cost more than the majority of aftermarket replacements, excluding track dedicated pads.

    Brake Pads..?

Hawk HPS pads serve DD pretty well with improved friction coefficient and easy on rotors...occasionally they will produce a sqeak when they are cold or with light pedal pressure. Only car they did this with me was an EVO VIII...other 3 cars were noise-free. Am told rears wear out before fronts...

Did I miss something with Brake pad threads?

This is that post from the DIY section...doesn't it get the job done ? Can't that spring retainer get popped out? "Oh No! This is a very bad idea. Do Not Dissasemble the caliper! Those four star bolts are a major safety issue and should never be removed. To change pads, you need to...

    Hurst T-bar shifter in ms3?

That handle lends itself to an automatic, not manual pattern. Hurst did have a similar manual handle but it was like a lazy "S" shape oriented fore-aft.

    Staggered Rims

Such a stagger will only increase this car's tendency to understeer..not really too bad in stock form. Why not do a reverse stagger with wider in front for better handling plus the front wheel well will tolerate a wider tire w/o rubbing compared to the rear..a stock 7" in rear with an 8" in...

HOW TO: Change your own oil

Harbor freight sells a box with an assortment of copper washers, 6 or so the size you need for $10.99 at their retail stores. I can usually use the same washer over the duration of several oil changes without a leak if I follow the oil drain plug torque rating (approx. 22 ft/lbs) and don't gouge...

How-to 10-15WHP dyno proven For Free.

I agree with your point that taking the entire cover off like I did might decrease airflow over all but my run with ON/OFF didn't really show this either.
