    Buying a high mileage (100-140k miles) 2016-17 CX-9?

Outside of this forum, it is barely known. Even companies that track reliability like Consumer Reports seemingly hasn't been made aware of it yet. They still show strong engine reliability for CX-9.

    Poll 2.5T Coolant Leak/Engine Replacement

Occasionally, I check out used 2nd gen CX-9 listings on Autotrader and such and filter in the highest mileage ones first. Many 150,000 mile examples pop up, some near 200K. This time, I dug into the CarFax service records. None of these high mileage examples show engine problems or replacements...

    Poll 2.5T Coolant Leak/Engine Replacement

Gotta love these warranty companies. They have an out for everything. So if they don't cover failures due to defects, the only other thing would be covering wear and tear. Nope! We all know wear and tear isn't covered.

    Poll 2.5T Coolant Leak/Engine Replacement

I'm contemplating what I will do if this happens to either my CX-9 or Mazda6. Whether to do the repair or dump it as a trade. I'm likely leaning on the latter. I don't think I feel like going through the whole process, spending all that money, and not be confident with the repair. Anyone have...

    Video of CX-90

So far, I'm not excited. I don't care for the CX-60's front end (grill/headlights). I was hoping to see the flagship leapfrog that look and really bring in the future of Mazda. From what we can make out, Mazda's design evolution is moving too slow in a world where design is changing pretty...

    Video of CX-90

It's what happens when everyone complains about the interior space of the 2nd gen for 6 years.

    Poll 2.5T Coolant Leak/Engine Replacement

Sorry to hear. 😕 That huge price difference for repair sounds like one quote would cover full engine replacement vs simply repairing the crack head. If so, I don't know why they just wouldn't say so. Leaving customers high and dry like this, especially loyal ones, is really going to come back...

Is the CX-9 4 cylinder engine enough?

I was amazed at how far 4-cyclinder engines had come after buying the CX-9. Surpassing the power that V-8's used to do. In speeds which are legal, this is the least sluggish crossover in this class you'll find. Above 90 mph, it might start to loose steam if you're still accelerating compared to...

    Poll 2.5T Coolant Leak/Engine Replacement

Wow, I've never seen any Mazda with the current 6-speed need a replacement! Did they give a specific reason, and was it a rare manufacturing fault? I also have both a CX-9 and Mazda6, both 2018's. No problems on either. The 6 has to be one of the most reliable sedans out, especially after...

    Poll 2.5T Coolant Leak/Engine Replacement

Good to see they're helping you out. People are being rejected coverage if they're at 60,001 miles. It's also a recurring thing that CX-9's with the issue isn't triggering dash lights. Small things will set off a light but when the engine is cracked open, nothing to see here! 🤔

    2018 CX-9 Overheating

Reading through this thread makes me wonder why the industry standard for drivetrain warranties is just 60,000 miles. These days, a vehicle is still in its early stage in life at 60K. The norm should match Hyundai/KIA's 100,000 miles. Every car buyer's expectation is that the engine will run...

    Poll 2.5T Coolant Leak/Engine Replacement

Gotta love how if you don't service your car at the dealership during the first 5 years, if something goes wrong that shouldn't, they'll refuse to help you.

    Poll 2.5T Coolant Leak/Engine Replacement

How long ago did you get the replacement? Was this before it was a known engine flaw? Mazda should be covering all replacements to maybe about 100K/8 years.

    2022 CX-9 details (Last year for CX-9)

I'm still not the biggest fan of the new naming convention. But I understand with a growing lineup, Mazda was forced. CX-90 is just a little too close to XC90 from Volvo. I imagine Volvo isn't too crazy about it. Definitely can't wait to see what Mazda does with the new one though. They'll...

2019 CX9 AWD Fast Tire Wear

Still on the original Falkens on mine as well. At 42K miles and still haven't reached the wear indicators. Pealed out many times too. Not my fault, 310 lb ft of torque's fault. 😋

    Styling is subjective...

While I like it and agree that it fixes all the shortcomings of the CX-5, I also was a bit underwhelmed upon it's reveal. Mainly because its overall appearance is no more up to date than a 6 year old CX-9. I love Mazda's current design language but it seems like they're not advancing it has...

Ouch. Takes longer to replace engine than to build the whole car in the first place.

    Poll 2.5T Coolant Leak/Engine Replacement

If it's only a matter of time until every 2.5T has to be replaced, I don't know how Mazda absorbs all that cost and producing all those replacement engines. There's going to be severe damage to their bottom line, at a time when capital is needed to compete with a quickly changing auto industry...
