Outside of this forum, it is barely known. Even companies that track reliability like Consumer Reports seemingly hasn't been made aware of it yet. They still show strong engine reliability for CX-9.

Occasionally, I check out used 2nd gen CX-9 listings on Autotrader and such and filter in the highest mileage ones first. Many 150,000 mile examples pop up, some near 200K. This time, I dug into the CarFax service records. None of these high mileage examples show engine problems or replacements...

Gotta love these warranty companies. They have an out for everything. So if they don't cover failures due to defects, the only other thing would be covering wear and tear. Nope! We all know wear and tear isn't covered.

Good to see they're helping you out. People are being rejected coverage if they're at 60,001 miles. It's also a recurring thing that CX-9's with the issue isn't triggering dash lights. Small things will set off a light but when the engine is cracked open, nothing to see here! 🤔

How long ago did you get the replacement? Was this before it was a known engine flaw? Mazda should be covering all replacements to maybe about 100K/8 years.
