    Poll 2.5T Coolant Leak/Engine Replacement

I went back and collected some statistics on the responses in this thread. 16 of the "yes" responses were from people who had been registered for 3 weeks or less. I'd classify those as "people brought to this forum" due to this issue. That leaves 20 other responses. Those folks had been...

    P2503-00

Car batteries really don't take being "deep cycled" very well. The battery doesn't discharge all that much when starting the car (think a few percent). What you did by leaving the car in accessory mode likely discharged it much more. On an old car battery, this can be terminal. Even brand...

    Poll 2.5T Coolant Leak/Engine Replacement

You really need to set the heater to MAX or whatever the equivalent is, roll the windows down, and drive the car a bit. The heater core and associated piping/hoses can hold a lot of air. Revving the engine and cornering can help move the air pockets around and eventually out of the cooling system.

Will the CX-90 PHEV be gutless?

It's heavy. 340 hp pushing 4700-4900 pounds isn't going to produce bragging rights type numbers.

Mazda CX-90 Turbo Premium Plus vs Honda Pilot Elite

If space is a primary concern, the Pilot is going to win out. Personally, I'd steer clear of the CX-90 for the first year or two. All new engine, all new transmission, all new hybrid system from a manufacturer that's designed two flawed engines in recent memory is not a gamble I would take.

    CX-90 Reviews are out

Still not real reviews, but "first drives" without much new information. When are the test drives with real instrumented results coming? The motor trend article is concerning. They take a polite dump on the PHEV for not being smooth. Their conclusion is that the I6 is clearly nicer to drive...

    Poll 2.5T Coolant Leak/Engine Replacement

The second TSB you've identified is for the V6 in the first generation CX-9 and has nothing to do with the turbo 4 head issue.

    2021 CX-9 Burning oil

A friend of mine has a 2021 which unfortunately has the oil burning issue. The local dealer is jerking him around for reasons I cannot understand. Prior to the TSB being published, his oil light came on a number of times. He kept taking it back to the dealer, and they kept topping it off. He...

CX-9 2.5T Engine Coolant Leaking TSB

On the other hand, if every one of the 500+ Mazda dealers is moving one head a month, that's 6000+ a year out of maybe 100k with the marginal head. Those are not good odds.

    Jan 2021 CX-9 Cracked Head

The head changes might be increased thicknesses of aluminum around the exhaust studs which would be difficult or impossible to see visually. You would probably have to section some heads to see the differences.

Considering a 2018 CX-9 but concerned about 2.5T oil consumption

The bigger concern with that model year is the head cracking due to a design flaw. Search this forum, there are a few threads on this topic.

    Should I chip my CX-9 2.5T?

Personally, I would not tune it unless you can be without it waiting on parts should the head crack. The "my head cracked" thread is full of people waiting quite a while for repairs. Your model year is right in the middle of the batch of cars that have been having this issue. On the other...

NGK Spark Plug ILKAR7L11 long term usage

The coils are connected to +12V (grey, connects to "A" on each coil) and ground (black, "D") on two of the wires. The third wire is the trigger from the ECU (various colors, "B" I think) that tells the coil when to fire. The fourth wire is the sensing wire ("C", I think). Someone first...

    Mazda CX-90 First Drive Event

The nine-ish trim levels aren't programmed into the Mazda parts website yet. The only trim level available for the 2024 CX-90 on the Mazda parts website is "WIDE WAGON".... https://parts.mazdausa.com/Mazda_2024_CX-90-33L-AT-4WD-WIDE-WAGON.html

    Mazda CX-90 First Drive Event

Interestingly, it appears to have an air-to-water intercooler. The intake pipe comes off the turbo and runs across the top of the engine. If the intercooler was an air-to-air setup this would not make any sense as the intercooler would be in front of the radiator, mounted down low most likely...

NGK Spark Plug ILKAR7L11 long term usage

There's nothing special about the branded Mazda plugs. The ECU uses them for per cylinder combustion diagnostics, but this is not a Mazda exclusive technique. There are SAE papers available on the internet for free describing how this system works. The "magic" is in the ECU, not the plugs...

    Looking at a 2015 Mazda CX-9…Any issues?

I've owned my 2010 for 13 years now. The only major mechanical issue I've had is a wheel bearing that failed. A number of annoying things have happened (broken window regulators, failed blind spot monitor sensors, crappy brake discs, etc). The body has begun to rust, so if you decide to go...

    Poll 2.5T Coolant Leak/Engine Replacement

The 2.5T failure appears to be due to a miscalculation of the stress levels in the heads by Mazda engineers. Aluminum is susceptible to fatigue failure (Google the de Havilland Comet for the most infamous case of this), and parts made of aluminum must be designed to have stress levels below the...

    Remember that time...

That post was made to the CX-50 forum on Reddit. It was from a throwaway account - the user that made the post has made no other posts and provided no further information. There are no more details provided in the thread...
