    Lubricant Additives

Ron, nothing you list does anything except lighten your wallet. As bloom says, the so-called oil stabilizer (has anyone ever seen unstable oil?) mainly just thickens oil, and as he says, the clearances in the engine require the oil viscosity the engineers designed the engine for, 5W-30 in our...

    Trade in a CX-9 2016 for a Prius?

We have both a 2016 CX-9 and a 2017 Prius Prime plug-in hybrid. Both are serving us very well. What is the state of repair shops in your area? Can you get good work done at a reasonable price? Are top quality aftermarket parts available so you don't need to buy parts from the dealership...

    New to Mazda SUVs

I think the original blades are made by the Mita Co., and the rubber insert is their AF design. Anyway, it's easy and very affordable to just replace the rubber insert with new ones from a dealer. They work great, they last a long time, and the fit is right. The rear wiper on the liftgate is...

2016~2023 Anyone have CX-9 parking brake actuator problems?

2016 CX-9: One inside rear brake pad is worn to the metal. The outside pad on that wheel has about 3mm of pad remaining. I'm about to dive into it, and I haven't yet checked the other side of the car. Has anyone had a sticky parking brake actuator? Any tips for refurbishing one, or tips for...

    New to Mazda SUVs

1--Yes. It's in the owner's manual. Be sure to get one. Press the liftgate button to open it. Press the button to stop the liftgate at the desired position. Press & hold the button for about 3 seconds. You'll hear two beeps that the new height is set. 3--Probably won't fit. Someone here...

Class-action lawsuit for CX-9 PTU? (Power Transfer Unit / Transfer Case)

Huh? I've been on two CX-9 forums since I bought my 2016, and I haven't seen any of this. No leaks from mine; I change my own oil and give everything a good look over & under. I drive more in winter on ski trips to surrounding states and B.C. than I drive this car in the summer. Excellent...

Other parts that should be replaced when installing new power steering pump?

Clean thoroughly under and around the pump. I've used a long 4-finger grabber with a bit of cloth soaked with brake-kleen to get tight spots. Fill the pump to the mark and check the level closely at the same temperature and check for leakage. If it is just a...

2016~2023 CX-9 Brake pedal hissing noise

This is from the Mazda parts site: They want $510...you can find a better price. Rock Auto doesn't have the Cardone reman booster in stock. About the clicking...do you think the pads have been replaced before you got it? Maybe they didn't bother to put in the pad hardware? Rock Auto has...

2021 CX-9: Normal or unusual oil consumption?

YES! To see if they actually drained the old oil, that they put in oil, and that the level is somewhere close to the mark. (My first, and only, oil change at the dealer they failed to do anything to the car, just called my wife after she'd been waiting for the compulsary hour and sent her...

2014 CX-9 Transmission fluid looks like dirty oil

Vegas, what fluid is specified for your 2014? Is that a Ford transmission? If so, does it take one of the Mercon fluids? The 3309 is the spec that is also known at Toyota T-IV. You want a fluid that either IS the original spec or listed by the fluid maker as "suitable for..." that spec...

    2008 CX-9 3.7L FWD Engine Bay - Stains

I agree with rowlands. If you don't have notable oil consumption and don't have oil drip spots of the floor where the car parks, don't worry. I also prefer Chevron Techron Concentrate as a fuel system cleaner. If cleaning is needed, this has done a good job for me. And, stick with the...

    18" CX-9 Wheel Tire Options

I think you mean the Cooper Discoverer AT3 4S...fits our 20" wheels but not our 18" wheels. The AT2 4S is All-Weather. The other AT3 models don't fit either 18" or 20" CX-9 wheels. The AT3 line is more of an on-road/off-road combination tire..."A specially-designed 5-rib all-terrain pattern...

    18" CX-9 Wheel Tire Options

There is a relatively new unofficial tire category called All Weather tires. These are All Seasons with the snow severe service rating, the 3-peak mountain snowflake symbol. These will give better snow traction that a typical All Season, but not the ice traction of a real winter tire. Start...

2008 CX-9 - Reliable mechanic says non-OEM exhaust system would cause failed inspection

Agree. The exhaust shop guys do this work every day. They know what works and what gives them come-backs...and come-backs are expensive for them. My guess is that the indie mechanic has been sold the wrong parts by his supplier and had problems...come-backs that are expensive for him and...

2008 CX-9 - Reliable mechanic says non-OEM exhaust system would cause failed inspection

I agree. If the oxygen sensors are listed in the catalog for your car go with them. (O2 sensors are good for about 100,000 miles, then the reaction slows.) Ditto for the catalytic converter if needed. The muffler and pipes should make no difference.
