2.5T Cracked Cylinder Head/Leaking Coolant Report to the NHTSA

I hope Mazda isn't going for the "least costly" options and trying to sweep the other potentially more serious (don't forget $$$) issues under the rug

What have you done to your CX-9 today?

Oh the CX9 screen is only held in by clips? I did this on a CX5 and Had to rip out the front dash to get to it.

Running a hot wire from the CX-9 rear

I'll take the plunge and get under the car and rip off the splash guards to see what's there (and take photos). I'm installing a Class 3 Hitch anyways so I'll be under there. I was also planning on doing this without jacking it up, but that'll be a game time decision lol.

Running a hot wire from the CX-9 rear

Anyone do a wire run from the back to the battery on a 2nd Gen CX9? Will be running one from a 7 way trailer plug to the battery and was just curious if anyone has any tips?

Mechanic needed, got the P0202 error code

Glad it solved the issue, but am confused about the trouble code vs fix LOL. I would have thought that a spark plug issue would have given you a P0302 (Cylinder 2 misfire) and not the P0202, but I am only an enthusiast.

Mechanic needed, got the P0202 error code

Yes, I believe Cyl 2 is the middle on the firewall side. I don't think you'll be able to access the connector with just the engine cover off. It's not that difficult to get in there, but if you've never done any work under the hood, the task may seem a bit over your head. I found a YouTube of...

Mechanic needed, got the P0202 error code

Injector circuit malfunction on cylinder 2. It's either the injector itself, the wiring/connector/harness, or the Engine/Power Control Module. It could be something as simple as poor contact at the connector. You literally disconnect and reconnect the harness/connector, but I don't think the...

    Starting issues 2007 CX-9

If it is a starter issue, one quick way to get it to turn on first go is by whacking the starter with something while turning the key (requires two people and it's only a stop gap measure until the new starter gets installed lol).

Is it possible to go with smaller wheels on the CX-9 2017?

Interesting. I guess it depends on the source of the information? 1010tires.com has Rim width range of 6.5" - 8" for the 245/70R17 tires. I got the package from a well known tire shop where I live so I'm not too concerned about it. That and I don't go autoX on these guys.

Is it possible to go with smaller wheels on the CX-9 2017?

Confirmed. Running 17x7 steelies with 245/70R17 Blizzaks for winters on my 2022 CX9 GT

2007~2015 CX-9 Intermittent battery indicator light

Typically, 12V batteries have a "resting voltage" (fully charged with car off) ~12.6 V and when the engine is running (without issues), it'll rise to somewhere in the 13.5 to 14.5 V. The battery needs at least ~13 V to charge.

Your thoughts on engine build quality over the years

Thanks for the link. Nice tear down. Wish it was the 2.5T teardown, but still a good look.

Your thoughts on engine build quality over the years

God I miss that car dearly (had the GTS). That motor really woke up between 6000 - 8400 RPM. Topped out at 220km/h; did this on a couple of occasions chasing a crotch rocket and a fancy Ferrari on the highway (this was when I was much younger and stupid). I had some larger than life plans for...

Your thoughts on engine build quality over the years

I'm curious if some engines are just tanks especially from the 1990s and 2000's era. My last car was a 2003 Toyota Celica with the noteworthy Yamaha motor (2ZZ-GE 1.8L; same motor used in the old Lotus Elise). I only used regular oil and did the changes every 8,000 km using FRAM oil filters. No...

    Towing a FWD CX-9

You can do it at low speeds on even surface for a short distance, but generally not recommended (unless you have a manual trans). You'll risk severely damaging the transaxle. It mostly has to do with the fact that automatic trans use a pump for lubrication of all of the moving parts. Not sure...

Buying my first Mazda (2023 CX-9). Looking for the Forum's collective wisdom!

There also seems to be reports of a parasitic power drain on the 2023. I believe there is a TSB for it (some owners even received recall notices with the description: Remote Tuner Module), but I can't find it at the moment.

What have you done to your CX-9 today?

Ah that gap looks more appealing, but I really don't want to lose the height that I have now on stock as I have moved on with the modding life. :(

Remote Windows Opening on CX-9 GT

Interesting. What year and trim is your cousin's?

Remote Windows Opening on CX-9 GT

Oh I didn't realize you can use the factory remotes on the Viper Smart Start systems. I've only dabbled with installing aftermarket CD/MP3 players (back when these were not standard features) and subwoofer systems, so take my comments with a grain of salt. My understanding is that the CAN bus...

    2016~2023 CX-9 fitment on 20” wheels?

CorkSport is an option I personally prefer coilovers (I did some autocross back in the day). There is one here and here, but I have no idea about quality. If you don't need the adjustability (haven't seen a CX9 track car, but I suppose it can happen?), then just the lowering springs will...
