    If your married, quick question..

All joint accounts for checking, savings and vacation fund. Just easier that way. We have our own retirement accounts, 2 for her, 3 for me. If you are going to have joint accounts though you need to have a very good understanding about money between the two of you, I you are not comfortable...

    Harmon Kardon, Denon, or Marantz?

Marantz SR7500. Mainly because I don't like all the 'extras' that most companies put in their receivers, I want something that just amplifies the signal and can do a clean job of switching sources. It also helps that the Marantz pieces have a largely overbuilt power supply so you have a lot...

best buy price match? any current coupons?

Depends on the region of the country. Here in the LA market we used to do a 50 mile radius at Circuit City and Best Buy was pretty much the same, but when you have over 90 stores between Best Buy, Circut City and Good Guys in LA county alone it only made sense.

best buy price match? any current coupons?

In a nut shell, NO. I don't really know of any brick and morter store that will match online prices. Almost every 'price gaurantee' has the disclaimer of a local, authorized, stocking retailer, meaning a local store, who is listed as an authorized dealer by the manufacturer of the product and...

    Lets talk Plasma

Since you are mostly using the commercial units, yea go with Panasonic, you can always ad the tuner pack in one of the swap out modules in the back. I appreciate the offer but the class A rated electronics play havoc with IR systems and I've got a lot of IR controlled equipment, not to mention...

    Lets talk Plasma

1sty, if you are looking for a good ED unit the Panasoics are great, I've sold a bunch and never had a problem with one. I think we've only had three with any problems in the last two years. Only problem you might have if you are looking at the consumer version is that they aren't available...

    Japan Weaking American Mazdas..?

It's not so much that they weaken the performance it's just that the gas quality in Japan is much higher with a higher octane rating, generally in the high 90s to 100s so they can tune more power out of the engine with more advanced timing and higher compression ratios. You just can't do this...

Sorry, no idea where I stayed, it's been at least 15-20 years since I went. The wife and kids and I are actually going ot go to Australia this September for my Grandfather's 90th birthday. Sort of figure he should be able to see his great-grandchildren at least once and it gives me an excuse...

Where to vacation in Central America?

Costa Rica is nice. I've been twice for Christmas and it was fun. Also if you like jungle tours or water sports it's fabulous. Also nice people as one of it's major industries is tourism.

    Sirius sucks hairy horse nuts

The antenna needs to have at least 6 inches of flat metal around it, 1 sq ft, it is not designed to be mounted near the edges. This will tremeniously help to improve reception, especially in areas where your line of sight to the satellites can be spotty.

    Component video switching via Receiver??

Sorry, I thought that you were having problems with the OSD menu. BTW the last line above shows the real difference between the HTR and RXV lines, rating at 1000 Hz is the easiest fequency to power so while they state the same power levels the power supply in the HTR is much smaller than the...

Ceramic tile for the first time

Looks good. Be glad you went with 12 x 12 tiles, I just finish redoing a bathroom with 1 inch honeycomb floor tiles and a tub/shower surround and 4 ft height on the other walss with 2 x 6 retangular tiles. God that was a pain, but it looks good now, just need to put in the new sink and toilet...

    Component video switching via Receiver??

Unfortunately the HTR series is Yamaha's cut rate line made for the big box stores so it doesn't have a lot of the feaures that their RXV line has, like the ability to use the menus through component video. You'll need to hook up the S-video or composite video monitor out to see the on-screen menu.

    Switching Fogs To Driving Lamps

Both are great lights, I've sold both and owned both. Currently have two sets of Catz on my Rodeo, both fog and driving and love the light pattern and output. Either way you can't go wrong just make sure they'll fit right and have a driving light beam pattern.

Need help buying home theatre projector???

I'm with 1sty on projector quality but then again like him I'm spoiled as I spend all day looking at a Sharp 12000 projector, so we're not really comparing product in the same range. I'm just not a fan of LCD projectors, too much screen door effect for me. If you are building on a budget I can...

Need help buying home theatre projector???

I can probably get hold of one for you but my company isn't a Canadian dealer so it may not be great for warranty work. Just a recommendation I would go witha better projector if you are really planning to use this for home theater use. Look at the resolution it os only and EDTV projector so...

what credit card should i get

Close, the fees that merchants pay for credit card usage are about 1-1.5% for Visa and Master Card and 3% for American Express. Visa and Master Card will return the transaction fee if the product is returned but American Express will not, so even if you return something that you bought on AMEX...

Two ways to take it back out of valet, either open the door, turn on the key, then back off and press your valet button withing 5 seconds and that will take it back out of valet or open the door and press the arm button, then disarm button, then arm button and that should also take it out of...

what credit card should i get

Personally my wife and I use a Citibank card, but what you'll find is that most cards give you 1% back on all purchases and 3% on gas and groceries with a maximum reward of $300 per year. Which works out to $25,000-30,000 in spending per year. It's unlikely that you'll spend that much in one...
