Nice! There is a new detector (forgot the brand) that acutally uses GPS to "tag" false alarms, seems like a cool idea!

Most alarm systems come in on X and K band radar... so you can tell the difference between them, also, most detectors have a "city" mode where the lower level alerts are ignored.

Good analysis. I agree about the cheap detectors as well, you def get what you pay for.

If they use "instant on" radar, your basically toast whether you have a detector or not.

Are the weathertech ones custom fit? The photo on the website makes it look like a "one size fits all" mat...

I paid 12K tax in with liscencing etc. I think I probably could have got one with less kms, but I wanted to go to a dealer that I knew was trustworthy, and didn't want to wait very long looking through private sales. So far I love it!

I'm interetsted how this works out as well, did you get the new ones from the dealer? Mine are starting to show some rust...

Just picked up a 2002 Protege 5 in silver a few weeks ago. Has just over 100,000kms on it. I'll be keeping it 100% stock (I think!)
